Chapter 1888 - 1888: Hunting (3)

Akumbo was having a hard time describing what he saw from the player. It started with curiosity when the player arrived in his village. Then curiosity turned into hate when the player threatened the elders and Chief Moussa.

He then followed the player under Chief Moussa’s order. At first, it just made him hate the player even more. It was not until their first encounter with the beast. The player managed to shoot seven Vultrak down in one shot, and he found out how the player achieved it in the second hunt. That was when his hate turned into jealousy. He was jealous that the player had Elemental Power skills.

Then the jealousy turned into shock as he realized the player managed to avoid the unnecessary beasts. It was like the forest became the player’s home. As if he knew everything about the forest and easily found out where his targets were.

The shock turned into disbelief as the hunt continued. The player easily hunts a hundred Legendary Beasts in less than an hour. They navigated through the endless forest and kept hunting. That was when the disbelief turned into admiration. When the player hunted the Demi-God Rank Beasts. Not just a few, but more than fifty.

In his entire life, he only managed to hunt eleven Demi-God Rank beasts. It was not a solo hunt, he led a team to hunt down one Demi-God Rank Beast. The eleven teeth in his necklace were the symbol that he had hunted eleven Demi-God Ranks.

That was when the player revealed that the last hunt would be the King of the Beast. He had heard about the King of Beast from Chief Moussa, but he never saw it with his own eyes. Chief Moussa and The Elders warned them about it because they would die if they met the King of the Beast.

The player was looking around, and for the first time, Akumbo followed the man closely. He made sure that he was not far from the players because they were in a dangerous area even for him. If they accidentally crossed the King of Beast, he might not survive if the King of Beast attacked him. Chief Moussa told all hunters that the King of the Beast was a God Rank.

There was one time that Chief Moussa tried to hunt the King of Beast along with The Elders. The result was a disaster as they lost more than half of The Elders. Since then, everyone has been told to avoid the King of the Beast.

Akumbo tried to persuade the player to go back and consult Chief Moussa. But he was ignored, and he had no choice but to follow the player. The only one who could protect him from the dangerous beast was this player.

Tang Shaoyang was annoyed that he could not find the King of the Beast after a few hours of searching in the forest. He looked around, even using his Chaos Eyes to the maximum range, but he could not find it. At first he hunted the Demi-God Rank Beast, but soon he lost interest in it and kept looking for this King of Beast.

He stopped under the tree and turned toward the hunter that had been following for hours. The dark-skinned man was leaning toward the tree with his hand, breathing roughly. The searching took a toll on the hunter, and he did not have the time to feel bad that he put the hunter into this situation. He told the hunter to go back when the hunter warned about the King of the Beast, but Akumbo chose to follow him.

“Do you know where the King of the Beast is?”

He stopped not to give the Demi-God Rank hunter a break but to ask a question. Maybe the people from the hunter village had the clue or even knew where to find this King of Beast. He did not want to waste his time for another day on this second floor. His goal is to reach the tenth floor or maybe even higher. It was to assess whether this Ancient Dimensional Tower was worth climbing or not.

The first two floors did not give him any benefits so far, and if it was up to the fiftieth floor. Then there was no reason for him to participate in the race. He would rather use his time to take the mission for the administrator.

“I don’t know…” Akumbo replied as he was gasping for breath and finished the rest of his sentence after taking some breath, “But you should ask Chief Moussa. Chief Moussa once led a team of hunters to hunt the King of Beast, but they failed.”

“Let’s go back then. Do you remember the way back to your village?” Tang Shaoyang did not remember the way back for sure.

He had been following his Chaos Eyes and went to where his prey was. It didn’t mean he did not have a way back. He left a spirit behind near the village, but he did not want to leave this poor guy in the middle of nowhere. Even though he was annoyed, that was not enough reason to leave the hunter to die.

“C-can we… take a couple of minutes break…” Akumbo nodded in response, but he needed a little bit of a break. He could not keep going like this because a group of Legendary Beasts or even Primordial Beasts might be able to get him if he was ambushed in his current condition.

Tang Shaoyang showed two fingers, indicating a two-minute break, but Akumbo’s eyes widened in disbelief. Two minutes were not enough, and it was a funny reaction. He ended up showing the remaining fingers, “You have a five-minute break.”

The hunter immediately slumped down and leaned against the wall, gasping for breath. This was the first time in years that he was out of breath like this. It was almost impossible for a Demi-God Rank like him to break, but he met a monster and tried to keep it up with a monster. At this point, he believed the player that he did not know his name was a God Rank.

When he came to such a conclusion, everything just made sense. The player refused training in their archery range. He thought the player was looking down on his village’s facility or underestimating an archer. The player proved it wrong by hunting the Demi-God Rank beast with a bow.

He thought the player was an arrogant prick to refuse a free good bow, but he found out that the player had a much better bow than the one the village offered. It would be embarrassing to compare the free bow and the one the player had.

The previous player’s actions made sense now, including when the player was upset and threatened his village when his stupid friend, Sango, tried to play a stupid game. He was glad that the player chose to ignore Sango, or everything might turn ugly for them.

Akumbo had not seen how strong the player was, but he was sure that even an elder was weaker than the player. The only one that might have had the power to go toe in toe with the player was Chief Moussa. However, he had a doubt now with how fearlessly the man looked for the King of Beast.

Based on the quest, the player should know his last target was God Rank Beast. Yet the man did not waver and kept looking for the God Rank Beast for almost five hours.

“Five minutes is up!”

His musing was interrupted and looked up at the player. Even though a five-minute break was not enough, he did not have a choice but to follow. He was grateful that the player did not leave behind.

‘It will be another hell to keep up with him.’

Akumbo could imagine his suffering on the way back to the village, and added with the embarrassment that he would receive from his friends too. They would laugh at him if he showed up, out of breath in the village. They would not believe if he told the truth as well.
