Chapter 283: Is this the reason the meeting was called?

“Mother!”

Veylara, who was in the Mansion Hall, about to leave the mansion, was suddenly stopped by Elira.

“They found Kael!”

Elira exclaimed excitedly.

She had used the connections she had built to find anything that could be found about Kael, and after a month-long silence, she finally got something.

“There are rumors that Hero Kael, on his Red Dragon, has been going around saving towns near the Shrouded Wilds.

Kek, that brat, to think he would go around calling his Firefang Wyvern a Dragon! How bold! But if you look at it from a certain angle, calling a Wyvern a Dragon would give common people hope.

And it’s not like he doesn’t actually have a Dragon with him, so I guess even if he calls his Wyv—”

“It is not a Wyvern, it’s a Dragon.”

Veylara interrupted.

“What…?”

Elira froze.

“The Nightvale Family learned about the rumors and sent people to investigate it. The rumors are confirmed, it is not a Wyvern, it is an actual Dragon.

A Council Meeting is called regarding this matter. I am currently on my way to the Palace.”

Veylara revealed.

Obviously, as the family known for its intelligence network, the Nightvale Family heard the rumors much faster than Elira or any other, so much so that while Elira was just receiving this information, they had already acted on it.

Elira, however, did not care about this. Her focus was somewhere else.

“Does this mean… that brat bonded with a second Dragon…?”

She questioned in disbelief.

“Many people say that, but…”

“But?”

“But there are voices saying that the Dragon is the Firefang Wyvern he was hiding from the world.”

“What…?”

Elira blinked.

“So you are telling me that a Wyvern turned into a Dragon?”

She obviously did not believe any of it.

Veylara had the same thoughts as well, but—

“People are considering this to be a possibility, yes. Some say that the Hero’s Talent is his ability to turn Wyverns into Dragons and that this was the reason he was hiding his Wyvern all this time.”

“What kind of absurd thought is that…?”

Elira countered, but by the end of her sentence, she lowered her voice as well. Even she could see how people would come to this conclusion.

“Anyways, the matter will be clearer once I return, so wait for me.”

Veylara spoke. She then looked right into Elira’s eyes with a sharp look on her face and,

“Do not do anything foolish that might make things difficult for him, is that clear?”

Elira just nodded in silence, and Veylara left.

10 minutes later, she walked into the meeting room where the rest of the Council Members were waiting for her.

In another 5 minutes, the meeting started, and the first one to speak was Zephyr.

“We found the Hero’s whereabouts. He is seen with a second Dragon in the Shrouded Wilds.”

“A second Dragon?”

Alaric, the Archmage, raised his eyebrow in surprise.

“That is correct.”

The Shadow Regent nodded.

“It is a Fire Dragon. There are reports that some people heard Hero Kael call it Igni.”

“T-That…”

Sylvara, the Keeper of Wilds, widened her eyes as she heard that name, and once again, the Shadow Regent nodded.

“That was the name Hero Kael had given to the Firefang Wyvern he had been hiding from everyone.”

“So you are saying…

The Wyvern was a Dragon all along?”

Varyon, the Grand Marshal, questioned with a frown on his face.

“Did the Kingdom give him a Dragon’s Egg?”

Obviously, even he didn’t believe what he was speaking, but there was no other explanation in his mind.

“No, the egg he was given definitely belonged to a Firefang Wyvern.”

Sylvara shook her head, confident.

There was no way a Wyvern’s egg would automatically turn into a Dragon’s. She had never heard of such an absurd statement before.

“So this is why he was hiding his Wyvern all this while.”

Suddenly, Alaric spoke up.

The rest of the Council Members turned towards the Archmage, and he continued,

“The Hero must have found a way to turn a Wyvern into a Dragon, but for the method to work, he must have needed some time. Time during which he cannot reveal his bond to anyone.

Makes me wonder if he was actually chosen by his second Dragon or if he used the same method with her as well.”

“A method to turn a Wyvern into a Dragon?”

The first to react was Zarya, the Master of Coin. Just that possibility made her ears react.

What absurd amount of money could be made if such a method actually exists?

Zarya’s entire body trembled at that question.

It wasn’t just her; the rest of the Council Members could see how big this matter was. Not just in terms of money but something… much more.

If a method like that exists… to turn Wyverns into Dragons… the implications were limitless.

This could turn around the entire political structure of not just Drakthar, but the entire world.

Greed.

Yes, the Council Members’ eyes shined with greed. None of them were able to hide it. Even Varyon was no exception; as a being who chased after strength all his life, having a Dragon—the pinnacle of strength—meant everything to him.

Veylara, who stared at this reaction, clenched her fist, her face much more solemn than before.

‘I finally understand why you left.’

She thought inwardly. She could see how Kael’s very life might be at risk if this was revealed when he was here.

What she hated the most was the fact that even she seemed entranced by the idea of having a Dragon.

Soon, however, she suppressed all these emotions and,

“That is enough.”

She spoke up.

“All this is merely a conjecture. Kael was already about to become an Adept Level Tamer when he left. There is also a possibility of him breaking through and bonding with another Dragon, and this is a much more likely scenario.”

“I agree.”

Alaric nodded at those words.

Soon, however, his grin widened and,

“But we also cannot deny this possibility just because its probability is low.

We need to investigate, because if this is indeed true, then it ca—”

Bam

Before the Archmage could complete, Veylara slammed the table in anger and,

“Is this the reason the meeting was called?”

She questioned in a cold, frightening voice.
