“Are you sure you want to try this?” Lian Zhiqiu asked slightly unnerved as she watched Luo Mingyu, Fen Baihu, Song Lingfei, and Wu Long sitting down in a circle amid the courtyard platform.

This scene brought back flashbacks of her own experiment with extracting knowledge in unconventional way from one of the Scrolls of Pleasure, and its disastrous consequences.

“Don’t worry Zhiqiu, as long as we are careful, we should be safe”, Wu Long rose up from his seat and came toward Lian Zhiqiu, hugging her to soothe her worries.

She leaned to him, knowing that although he claimed to join in to also obtain insights into both bloodlines, the main reason he was participating was so that he could interfere if something went wrong.

If he didn’t see any potential risks, it was likely he would allow Song Lingfei to be the sole focus of this experimental method.

After some time, she finally sighed, knowing she won’t be able to persuade him or the others to back down, nor was it clearly the right choice, since she didn’t have any indication something would go wrong. It was just prejudice from her own experience, and she understood it.

He smiled, giving her a kiss on the forehead, and returned to sit on the platform.

Lian Zhiqiu then shook off any lingering doubts and started operating a concealing formation that she and Wu Long set up together in this courtyard a bit earlier, concentrating on this task completely without any distractions.

Since Fen Baihu was going to fully activate her bloodline in order to tap into the bloodline memories, this would of course raise risks of her being discovered, so they had to be cautious.

During this time Luo Mingyu and Song Lingfei were mentally preparing all of this time, her mind calmed by the gentle and elegant melody Gong Cui was performing with great care, sitting with others around the platform.

Fen Baihu, on the other hand, was an nonchalant as ever, her tails playfully swaying behind her, though her pink eyes looked at Wu Long from time to time, a smile appearing on her lips whenever she saw him.

When Wu Long sat down, they waited as Gong Cui finished the performance, and as she did, Luo Mingyu, with her eyes still closed, made a long exhale, her entire presence giving off an air of serenity and concentration.

As she opened her eyes and looked at all three sitting with her on the platform, receiving nods from them, she closed her eyes again, and a purple aura enveloped her body, the surroundings becoming slightly discolored, but with a very light purple hue.

At that moment, Fen Baihu’s expression turned more serious as she raised her index finger pointing to the sky with a graceful motion of an otherwise relaxed hand, and moved it down, as if drawing a vertical line downward.

A pink glow and formless threads of mystical mist covering her body.

Her eyes glowed, something primal awakening in them, as incredible Blood Qi pressure started building around her, acutely palpable even though she didn’t let it spread.

The pressure of a Mythical Beast’s Bloodline was far more tremendous than any of the beauties imagined.

Luo Mingyu’s eyebrows frowned a little as she bared the brunt of it, far more vividly feeling it through her Dao Intent.

At the same time, Song Lingfei’s eyes opened wide as her silvery eyes with dark shadows swirling within them began to very gently glow, her own Mythical Beast bloodline activating as if in defense, reacting to the threat of another Mythical Beast.

The space around her started slightly distorting, and then twisting, as if creating a barrier between her and outside world.

At the same time Wu Long also felt both bloodlines activate within his body, the blood flowing through his vessels producing heat, as if electrical sparks flowed in between the two distinct forces.

The Celestial Core in his Dantian began rotating faster than usual, gradually gaining speed, as was the Vortex containing six crystals that he was pouring Song Lingfei’s Yin Qi into cultivating.

And then, he felt a reaction from his Dual Extremes Infinite Union Art bonds with Fen Baihu and Song Lingfei.

It was as if each of the bloodlines was resonating through their Harmonic Roots.

They spent several minutes in this meditative state, searching for any clues, their minds resonating through the Dao Field that Luo Mingyu unfolded.

And then, through his deeper connection to Fen Baihu than only the Dao Field, but certainly through the medium of that Dao Intent, Wu Long was able to grasp a certain feeling.

The next moment, Fen Baihu, Song Lingfei and Wu Long all shook, their heads jolting to look up, almost entering a trance state, and yet completely different to Wu Long’s earlier sudden enlightenment.

It was more violent and overbearing, primal in its nature.

Formless and and volatile waves spread from all four sitting on the platform, the natural Spiritual Qi around them began swirling in circles on its own, as if compelled by the commanding presence of the bloodlines.

Luo Mingyu’s frown intensified. She was only facilitating the connection, and thus did not directly engage with any of them, but pressure began to become quite strong for her.

At one moment, her mind vividly showed her a visage.

An enormous eagle which wings covered everything in sight from one side, and a fox with multiple tails, covered in clouds of mist looming over from the other side.

Both figures were too vague to actually perceive in detail, their features obscured from her, but she, a mere mortal woman, was standing in between these two godly beings that covered the whole world around her. Her existence was a mere spec of dust in front of them, so insignificant she barely existed in their presence.

As her thoughts froze with both awe and dread, feeling as if her fragile mind could crumble away at any moment, extinguished like a small flame of a candle caught in a divine hurricane, she suddenly felt two sturdy hands hugging her from behind, a familiar warmth enveloping her as she felt safe and loved, shielded from anything that could harm her.

Her mind immediately felt at ease, all strain and burden disappearing from her as they were suddenly lifted and carried away, borne entirely by this strong and overbearing presence.

The gaze of the eyes that looked at the two Beasts was defiant and confident, not a hint of backing down as the very presence pushed the pressure of the two figures back.

In reality, Wu Long was not near her, he was still sitting in the same place, in a trance-like state. It was his mind that Luo Mingyu felt guarding her, as she realized that he was always leaving a part of his attention on the link between them, and likely did so for all of his women. Always watching over them and keeping them safe.

Song Lingfei, on the other hand, was facing only one of those great Beasts, her mind floating in an ocean of knowledge she could not yet comprehend. Wu Long silently watching over her as she seemed in no danger.

Fen Baihu was the least troubled or overwhelmed, very used to this feeling. The only thing unusual for her was that she could feel her bloodline resonating with Wu Long, which only brought her immense joy.

Though there was one other novelty, is that she felt that the ‘gate’ – for the lack of a better term – that she ‘opened’ to access this ancestral bloodline memory, triggered a resonance with another ‘gate’ in Song Lingfei’s bloodline, through the connection of Luo Mingyu’s Dao Intent, and at the same time through Wu Long acting as a medium as well.

As this was happening the beauties outside the platform began noticing that it wasn’t going too smoothly, slightly worried looks appearing on their face.

Even though the burden on Luo Mingyu was taken off almost instantly in real time, it still was quite a volatile, unstable connection that slightly precariously was balanced almost entirely due to Wu Long. Should Wu Long’s mental strength give in even a bit, or should the burden on his current physical body and cultivation get too strong for it to handle, it would tip the scales and the whole thing would unravel.

Of course, all of them had trust in Wu Long, and had no doubt that he not only could handle it, but would gradually wind it down if he thought it was getting dangerous, but it didn’t mean they would not prefer a slightly less nerve-wracking situation.

And then, to their surprise they could see Yuanfen walking toward the platform. No one noticed when she stepped forward, only realizing her presence when she appeared in their direct line of sight, already nearing the four who were sitting in meditative poses.

Before anyone could react, her hand gently rose, and touched the light film of Luo Mingyu’s Dao Intent, which none of them ever saw being touched, though for her it seemed as real as the floor she stood on, because the surface of that film had ripples spread from the point she touched in concentric cirles, as if she touched the surface of water, and at the same time, a single formless, serene wave spread in all directions.

The next moment, the connection between the four sitting on the platform suddenly began stabilizing, the violent waves spreading from them becoming less and less volatile, and finally matching the monotone rhythm of the ripples that appeared on the ‘film’ of Luo Mingyu’s Dao Field, the ripples that were already gone.

“Hehe”, Yuanfen chuckled with a genuine, pure and innocent smile, full of joy. Her facial expression, or rather, the whole impression she gave off reminded the beauties around of Gong Cui’s joy and satisfaction after she finally fine-tuned her Zither to precision after a slight, almost unnnoticeable imperfection was bothering her.

Yuanfen turned around to go back where she was sitting before with a light, slightly dancing gait amid the completely dumbstruck and silent gazes of the beauties.
