Chapter 2498 The Advantage
Alex was quite stunned at hearing all the rewards. The fact that the Alchemy God was letting anyone else use his book was shocking alright, but he was also giving his knowledge as well.
And then, there was the Second Chance pill. The fact that there was a pill that could revert an Immortal’s cultivation was an incredible treasure. Considering they would now have a chance to get their hands on the best of the best treasures to form their Creation, it was an incredible pill to get.
It was especially incredible for someone who had compromised on their Creation for the sake of their cultivation speed. There were many that had chosen a mediocre Creation so that they didn’t have to search far and wide for auras for the Creation of their choice.
But now, it would be as easy as just asking for it.
And the final reward, the wish—Alex couldn’t even imagine what he would want should he get the chance. Could he ask for the Book of Endless Recipes? It was unlikely the man would give that.
Alex wasn’t the only one considering all of these things. Everyone else in the room was excited by the prospects of the various rewards they would be receiving. Just the fact that they already had the chance to work under the Alchemy God was incredible enough for most of them.
‘It’s not just for us, is it though?’ Alex thought. The finalists weren’t the only ones who would be receiving something. Their masters would also receive something good. As for what it was, it was likely nothing in comparison to the alchemists themselves.
Alex only hoped that through this, he could help clear away any and all doubts Silvermist had in himself. If he needed to use his wish for that, then he would do it.
The stadium was cleared away while the Alchemy God began explaining the competition. Everyone was clearly surprised by the premise of the competition. The fact that they would have to constantly come up with recipes one after another was shocking for many of the alchemists who understood how difficult it was to make pill recipes that were good.
They couldn’t imagine how talented one would have to be to do it in just a day and a half. But then, these were the best of the best out of billions and billions of people throughout the 18 different Immortal realms.
These would have to be that good to participate in the final competition.
The stage was set up with platforms for all 102 individuals to make their pills in. And once that was complete, the Alchemy God began calling their names to call them onto the stage.
Alongside the names, the stadium came alive with recordings of their best performances throughout the competition.
When Leafheart was called on stage, her performance from the third competition was shown, where she came first.
When Aethersage was called, they showed how he completely replaced six ingredients in no time.
When Dusklily was called, they showed her performance from the Endurance test, where she had lasted until the top ten.
When Alex was called, they showed his performance in the speed test, where he crossed the entire maze in no time at all, as well as the numerous pill clouds he had formed by now.
Everyone who was called onto stage had their best performance shown to the audience, both as a method to get them excited about these participants and to remind them of just how incredible they all were.
Once they all arrived on the stage, the Alchemy God welcomed them once more.
“You have come to the greatest alchemy stage set up in hundreds of thousands of years. You know what is at stake here. You know what you can gain. This is your moment, so make sure to seize it. Do your best so that you will never regret this day ever in your entire life.”
Everyone’s chests rose higher as they nodded fervently.
“You may now sit.”
One after another, everyone filed onto the various alchemy stations that were prepared for them. Everything was set up around the edges of the stage, and they could see their people closest to them.
Alex walked up to the one on the eastern side and saw his people sitting close by, waving toward him.
Silvermist sat in the middle with Grimsight to his left. On his right was Momo, and to her right was Pearl. Whisker sat on Momo’s lap. They were all excited and nervous for him.
Alex waved back and sat down. He had to face the other way so as not to get distracted by them, but just as he was about to, his eyes unconsciously moved toward the two people not far away.
He didn’t even know why he looked there, but when he did, he noticed Shumi and Fairy Xin. He was surprised to see that they hadn’t left just yet. He thought they had left by now.
They noticed him too but said nothing.
Alex wanted to talk to them again, but he turned around. He couldn’t let himself be distracted at this very moment. This was a time when he had to get rid of all thoughts but the ones for the competition.
Here, he wasn’t Alex. He wasn’t Yu Ming. He wasn’t Dawnblade.
Here, today, he was just an alchemist who was going to do the best he could.
Once Alex was settled into his place, he brought out his cauldron and looked around. Everyone sat down and brought out their cauldrons too, waiting for the ingredients to be brought out.
“I have one other thing to tell our audience before we get started. In case you do not know about Immunity Pins, every winner of the previous competitions has been receiving one.”
“With this pin, they are allowed to buy their way back into the tournament should they be disqualified. If they manage to keep it until this final competition, then they receive an advantage.”
“And now, I shall reveal what that advantage is.”
Everyone intently waited for the Alchemy God to speak.
“In front of you all to the right should be a small divot on the ground. Those of you who have the pin, place it in the divot with the sharp point first.”
Alex curiously looked ahead and found the divot not far away. He pulled out his pin and placed it into the divot. As soon as he did, he felt something change, and a familiar aura poured out of the space around him.
He looked toward the Alchemy God for his explanation of it.
The Alchemy God watched all four alchemists place their pins into the divot. Once they were done, he began his explanation.
“There lies a formation upon which you sit that is now completed thanks to your use of the pin. This is a formation that slows down time for just the few of you.”
The words came as a strong surprise for many of them.
“Yes, that is the advantage that you receive for your use of the Immunity Pin. For the remainder of your time in the competition, you will experience time at one-tenth of the rate slower than everyone else.”
