Whisker had brought 3 large cauldrons full of sludge from beneath the surface, and by the time he had used up the sludge, he had only created enough Elixir to improve his strength to Immortal Origin 4th realm.
It had taken him 4 days to use up all of the sludge, so at this point, he had to return and get some again.
However, before that, Whisker needed to absorb it all. And considering how much Elixir was in his body, it was going to take a while.
Whisker wanted to cultivate in safety, so he returned to Alex.
Alex was still training with his newly bought formation plate, so Whisker didn’t disturb him as he walked in. He simply sat by one side and cultivated.
Perhaps because of how poor his cultivation technique was, it took him more than a week to fully absorb all of what little Elixir he had in his body. After the week was over, Whisker left to get some more.
The next two months went in a similar fashion.
Whisker found a beast and went down to the aquifer that was full of sludge and gathered as much as he could. This time, he carried more than just the cauldrons full of it, placing a lot of it in his Soul Space.
Once he gathered all that he needed, Whisker left.
He went back to the river to use its water, and began refining Elixir once again.
Refining Elixir still took a long time. The thing that took the most out of all of that was simply the boiling part. Since Whisker only had 3 cauldrons and he had to wait for all of the water to boil off before he could use them to wash some more sludge.
In the 2 months, Whisker’s body cultivation improved drastically, placing him close enough to reach the Immortal Transcendent realm. He still didn’t know how strong one had to be to be in that realm.
Only Alex could give him a much better understanding of the realms.
After 2 months of doing this without a break, Whisker got a little bored. It was great that he was improving, but he wanted to do it faster and without so much repeat action.
He was probably asking for too much there. That much he understood.
In that case, he wanted more Elixir in his sludge.
At this point, Whisker could confidently say that the Yin was what made the Elixir, even though he didn’t know the process behind it. So, it was almost an obvious thought for him that if he wanted more Elixir, he needed to go to the deeper regions.
Whisker had gone as deep as he could, but perhaps, he could go deeper now.
How deep could he really go?
‘I shouldn’t worry this much,’ Whisker thought. ‘The worst-case scenario is that I’ll die. I’ll just go back to brother.’
Since he wanted to go when the Yin was the lowest, he decided to go underground right around the time when the sun set. The entire day of Yang would lower the Yin to its lowest point.
That was the opportunity Whisker waited for.
Starting then, each time Whisker needed to go underground, he went underground at a very late stage. He carried as much sludge out as he could, but there was a sea of sludge down there, and no matter how much he took out, it simply didn’t matter in the long run at all.
Whisker then began making Elixir out of that sludge for a couple of months during which time his body cultivation improved to a point where Whisker couldn’t be sure if he was stronger than Alex or not.
The decision to get sludge from a lower stage had absolutely been the correct choice. If not for that, it would have likely taken him a year to reach this point.
Whisker returned back to Alex a few times in between to check if he was needed, but also to cultivate the Elixir he had consumed by then. Each time he went, Alex seemed to be in more pain than the last time, which didn’t make sense to him at all.
As far as he understood, what Alex had been trying was to make the pain less.
Whisker didn’t say anything since he trusted his brother to know what he was doing. He simply focused on what he was doing.
Whisker went back down to the depths of Hell to get the black sludge out from it. It was dusk when he was there, so the environment, while cold, was still warm enough for him to maybe go in deeper.
Whisker wasn’t sure if he was just getting used to the presence of Yin in his surroundings or if his physical body’s improvement had a hand in him lasting longer down there.
Whatever the case, it was great news for him since he could now go a layer deeper.
Whisker dropped maybe a few meters deeper and arrived at a depth he had never arrived in. The coldness in this location was so very high that Whisker knew he couldn’t stay there for too long.
His body felt sluggish, his senses mostly overwhelmed by the sheer Yin that surrounded him. The ‘meat’ smell he got from Elixir should have been the strongest in this location, and yet because of the sheer quantity of Yin, he couldn’t smell it at all.
Whisker wasted no more time and took a bunch of the sludge from around him. Considering the amount of Elixir that would be present here, he was very much excited to take away more sludge than ever before.
Whisker swallowed a large amount of it into his Soul Space.
As he did, however, the other sludge moved to fill in the void that Whisker had created, and pushed him down when he couldn’t even sense it coming.
Immediately, Whisker was pushed down into a region he hadn’t wanted to go. A region where the Yin was so high that Whisker slowly began losing consciousness from the sheer cold.
As that happened, Whisker realized the mistake he had made.
If he froze here without dying, then Alex would never find him ever again.
