Chapter 902: 901 I am happy

Mo Xiuchen looked at her sparkling eyes with deep affection, his long, fair hand gently caressing her cheek as he said tenderly, word by word, “Ranran, from now on, I won’t let you get hurt, nor will I let you feel sad.”

“I believe you.”

The twinkling in Wen Ran’s eyes turned even brighter, her Mo Xiuchen had never hurt her. He had been so good to her, so good that even if he couldn’t remember their past, she dared not hope for him to recall it.

His kindness gave her the courage to overcome her own psychological struggles. The sadness and despair of recent times seemed insignificant at this moment, for right now, her Mo Xiuchen was truly back.

It wasn’t just him physically, but his heart and his memory had returned as well.

She no longer had to worry that he chose to love her again only because he had loved her before, no longer had to fear misunderstandings—he remembered everything, knew that they had been through so many trials and tribulations, so much life and death. Although their love had always trickled like a gentle stream, it was a true affection.

Their love had seeped into the marrow, the affection into the soul.

“Ranran, if you keep crying, I’ll have to kiss you again,” he warned.

Mo Xiuchen watched the fresh tears spilling from her eyes and felt his heart tighten.

“I’m happy, Mo Xiuchen, I’m so very happy,” Wen Ran said through laughter and tears, truly joyful, moved to tears. She clutched his hand and wiped it across her eyes.

Just as she used his hand to dab her tears, Wen Ran suddenly realized something and quickly let go of his hand, her gaze shifting to his arm with worry, “Mo Xiuchen, your arm wound…”

“Don’t worry, Ranran, it’s nothing; I’ve been very careful.”

“But the blood has soaked through the gauze, no, you must redress it. I’ll get the first aid kit. Take off the bandage and stop the bleeding, then go to the hospital…”

Wen Ran said this as she immediately struggled out of his embrace, leaned over to grab the discarded nightgown, quickly put it on, jumped out of bed, and brought the first aid kit back to the bedside.

Mo Xiuchen had been overly passionate a moment ago and had inadvertently used the injured arm, possibly reopening the wound. There hadn’t been much blood; otherwise, with all they had done and all the talking they had had, his blood would have run dry by now.

The gauze was soaked bit by bit, and though painful, Mo Xiuchen had endured it without showing even the slightest discomfort.

Watching Wen Ran return with the first aid kit, Mo Xiuchen’s smile grew even more tender, his profound eyes filled with warmth, “Ranran, help me remove the bandage, stop the bleeding, and then just re-dress it. We don’t need to go to the hospital.”

Wen Ran frowned, placed the first aid kit on the bedside table, and apprehensively asked as she looked towards his arm, “Are you sure?”

“Yes, actually, the wound is almost healed,” Mo Xiuchen replied with a twinkle in his eye and a slight smile.

If Ranran hadn’t returned so soon, he would have wanted to keep the fully healed wound a secret from her.

Wen Ran squinted doubtfully at Mo Xiuchen’s shimmering eyes, then gently took hold of his injured arm, carefully unwrapping the bandage.

The blood wasn’t much, but in Wen Ran’s eyes, each drop was a pang in her heart.

When she removed the gauze and touched the wound, her delicate eyebrows were tightly knit, and she looked at Mo Xiuchen with questioning eyes, “Didn’t you say your injury was almost healed?”

Mo Xiuchen also looked down at his own arm, the smile on his lips somewhat sheepish, “Ranran, I inadvertently exerted some force just now, otherwise, the injury really was almost healed.”

“If it’s healed, why is it still wrapped in gauze? Are you trying to fool a child?” Wen Ran glared at him fiercely.

“Wrapping it in gauze…it’s just to make you worry about me a little,” Mo Xiuchen defended softly, but Wen Ran ignored him, first stopped the bleeding, and then took out her cell phone to dial Gu Kai’s number.

Wen Ran rarely got angry, but when she did, Mo Xiuchen felt anxious.

Seeing her call Gu Kai, he didn’t dare to stop her, just gazed at her tenderly.

The phone rang twice before being answered. Gu Kai’s deep, gentle voice came through, “Hello, Ranran.”

“Brother, Mo Xiuchen’s wound has opened up again, I am accompanying him to the hospital now. Have you had any rest? If you haven’t, could you come back to the hospital…”

“The wound has opened up? Ranran, don’t panic. I just examined Mo Xiuchen this morning, and his wound was healing well. If it’s just a minor bleed, don’t worry. I’m nearby the hospital having a late-night snack. You accompany Mo Xiuchen to the hospital; I’ll be right back.”

After Gu Kai hung up, Shen Yuting, who was sitting opposite him, had already taken out her wallet and settled the bill.

As soon as he hung up, she immediately asked with concern, “Cousin, did Mo Xiuchen’s wound open up? How did that happen…”

Gu Kai answered in a calm and breezy tone, “Even if his wound opened up, it’s not a big deal. Don’t worry, he and Ranran have been apart for so long, and today, with Ranran’s return, he was inevitably excited. I’ll go back and dress his wound for him, and you continue eating here. I will come back and pick you up afterward.”

Originally, Gu Kai had wanted to have a talk with Shen Yuting, to indirectly remind her not to harbor any more illusions about Mo Xiuchen.

But with Ranran’s call, he knew he wouldn’t have the chance to say anything to Shen Yuting that evening, so he would have to find another time. Shen Yuting’s face changed slightly, as she lowered her eyes to hide the emotion that flashed by.

How could she not understand the meaning in Gu Kai’s words?

He was saying that Mo Xiuchen’s arm had been injured because of the intimacy akin to a newlywed couple reunited after a small separation; they were a legally married couple, deeply in love with each other. Any sensible person could guess that with Ranran’s return after a month abroad, they would obviously do something.

But didn’t Wen Ran know that Mo Xiuchen’s injury wasn’t healed, and that his arm couldn’t be touched or exerted upon? How could she not care about Mo Xiuchen at all?

Shen Yuting’s brows furrowed as she thought of this, “Cousin, let’s go back to the hospital together. Ranran didn’t know about Mo Xiuchen’s injury before, and now she has accidentally caused his wound to open up again; she must be very upset. Let’s hurry.”

Without waiting for Gu Kai to refuse, Shen Yuting picked up her purse and stood up first.

Gu Kai’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he stood up too, saying, “Yuting, you don’t need to follow us back to the hospital. Why don’t you go home and rest?”

“Cousin, I am worried about Ranran. This morning, Mo Xiuchen even came to me, saying that Ranran still didn’t know about his injury.” Shen Yuting looked at him with sincere eyes, and Gu Kai hesitated for a moment before agreeing, “Alright, then come with me to the hospital.”

He was not a fool; he naturally knew that Shen Yuting was really concerned about Mo Xiuchen. If he insisted on stopping her, Shen Yuting might feel that he was biased towards Ranran. It would be better to let her accompany them to the hospital, perhaps seeing Mo Xiuchen and Ranran’s sweet affection would finally make her give up.

Seeing his agreement, Shen Yuting finally breathed a sigh of relief, a smile reappeared on her face, and she said cheerfully, “Cousin, let’s go.”
