Chapter 1284: Dismiss [1200 GT Bonus]
Aurex was in a bit of a daze. Honestly, he didn’t quite understand what he was seeing.
It was an F-tier…
It was easy enough to understand that Herrs must have suffered at the hands of the C-tier behind Sylas, but that wasn’t enough to explain what was going on.
Aurex’s eyes narrowed and his head snapped back toward Thorak. He had overheard some of the conversation from earlier. His senses as a C-tier weren’t what most could fathom, especially as someone who followed the Beast Path.
“Is this how your Rhino Lineage operates?”
Thorak was taken aback, blinking in confusion. It was an odd sight to see such a big man be left without words. But being of taller and wider stature than Aurex was one thing. Their actual power was a completely different matter.
“Have you forgotten how to speak?” Aurex asked coldly.
“… My master’s disciple is a woman.”
Aurex’s frown deepened when he heard this, and he felt the need to double-check, looking back toward Sylas only to confirm that it was a man. Unless Sylas had some proclivities he didn’t know about, this was certainly not the same person.
But that left him even more confused. Who could be so bold and yet not the disciple that Thorak was waiting for?
Thorak was likewise confused, realizing the same things as Aurex. Who would be so bold?
He didn’t know much about the starship system they had, but all of the Captains were a lot like the administrators of this hub. They were paid for their services by the Sanctum.
Actually, that was about where the similarities ended. Herrs’ job wasn’t nearly as cushy and actually paid quite well because of the danger involved.
Of course, those dangers were the pirates and whatever other hidden organization decided to try their hand at stealing from the Sanctum. As such, it could be said that whoever gained the right to lead these expeditions was of decent power and strength—not to mention decently compensated.
Though there was a lot of turnover, those that managed to kill them or make them run away would never announce it to the world because that would be the equivalent of offending the Sanctum. The pirates were smarter than that and knew how to toe the line.
“Anyone who recognizes that boy, speak up now.”
Aurex had regained his calm, but his previous smiling expression was gone. His voice carried over the bustling hub with ease, and for a moment, his actions made the descending starship—which was really just one of dozens—the center of attention.
As it fell into a basin of steel that stretched for hundreds of meters, countless gazes and senses were sweeping over it and Sylas.
It was rare that such a bustling region became so focused on a single thing. But whether Sylas had planned out things like this or not, they had certainly worked out like that.
SHIIIIIIII.
Steam spread out in all directions, barriers formed of mesh-like Rune systems protecting the planet from being overloaded by the weight and sudden air pressure. It was clearly a far more advanced system than what had been on Planet Vortan.
Thorak looked over to Aurex to see how he would react, only to see that he was already gone. The region around the starship had already been cleared out by the Runes, but Aurex stood high in the skies, his body just outside of the barrier as he looked down on Sylas.
“I will give you one chance to explain what is going on here.” Aurex’s tone was low, and yet it still seemed to spread out infinitely far. His words had only just left his lips, though, when Sylas’ trench coat was buffeted by the winds again, swaying them just far enough out of the way that the badge he attached to his waistline was revealed.
Aurex’s eyes narrowed. “… Gralith. I did not know he had accepted another disciple.”
Sylas looked up to meet the man’s gaze. “Are you an overseer of this hub? Do you have jurisdiction over crimes committed by their captains?”
Rather than answering the question, Sylas asked questions of his own.
Aurex’s eyes only narrowed further. He didn’t understand if this child understood much of anything about how the Beast Warlord Sanctum worked. Let alone an in-name disciple—even a True Disciple of Gralith’s at the mere F-tier didn’t have the right to speak to him like this.
A grin spread across his face, his sharp canines practically radiating with glistening saliva as though he wanted nothing more than to bite Sylas’ head off.
“Brama,” Sylas said calmly.
A whirring shook the starship, and all of a sudden the smooth, egg-like silver starship had completely changed, panels lifting and shifting as one mesh of Runes after another layered on top of one another akin to spiraling magic circles.
They took aim, focusing on Aurex high in the skies.
“I’ll take that non-answer as a no. In that case, stay out of my way or I’ll treat you little differently than I did this one.”
Aurex’s grin froze, a fury building up in his heart. All the while, his friend Herrs seemed to still be stuck in position, his head lowered and his body tightly bound. He couldn’t speak even if he wanted to, and Sylas had made certain of that.
This situation was under his control, and anyone who thought differently would find out quickly what the reality was.
At that moment, the hub suddenly shook. Whirring alarms filled the place and towers rose up from the distance.
Sylas didn’t seem surprised by this at all. The Sanctum wasn’t some backwater power you could casually do as you pleased with. If someone manned attack formations of this scale in their territory, how could they not have a response?
With a glance, Sylas had already seen many of the protective formations even if he couldn’t understand them. But his Rune Mastery was at a point where even without truly understanding… he could hear the Runes… they could speak to him… he could feel their emotion, their desire to protect.
It was as clear as day to him.
But like this, with a commotion that was large enough, he could bypass this annoyance.
Sylas had felt his master’s aura before. This Aurex was wholly inferior. The odds that he was a mover and shaker were next to zero.
He dismissed him the moment he saw him.
