Chapter 1289: Casteel. Wenrii. Udone. [Bonus]

“Casteel. Udone. Wenrii. You will be leading this battle. I don’t think I have to tell you again what my master wants. If you succeed, you’ll be rewarded. If you fail, well… your chances of getting into the good graces of the Lineage Head will be dashed. Forever.”

Thorak spoke in a low tone.

Across from him, familiar figures with the same blackened, obsidian skin stood across from him, the very same complex mesh of Runes from what looked like elevated scarred whip marks of grey lacerating across their bodies.

The Obsithar Clan wasn’t a particularly large Clan in the Sector, but they were known for their raw power and defenses. There was quite a decent percentage of them in the Sanctum, though not all were members of the Rhino Lineage.

It was well known that they would likely be at least a mid-tier power if they could fix their population issues. But much like the Mist Race of the Milky Way, they had their own problems.

It was just that while the Mist Race tended to birth women, making it difficult for them to have enough population balance for future generations, the Obsithar had the opposite problem, having about 60% of their babies come out as males.

This tweak in their Genes didn’t come without benefits, though. Their power, their strength, their durability, their stamina… they all tended to be off the charts, even amongst their women.

Of the three Thorak was looking at right now, the only woman amongst them was Wenrii. But she still had the same large, stocky build. Even her breasts looked more akin to thick steel bowls than the soft mounds of flesh they should have been, the wires of her chest muscles bulging out more than any softness would have.

Casteel and Udone were larger, but still barely only a half a head taller. There didn’t seem to be any enormous difference between them all at all.

These three were far from the only ones that Thorak would send. Instead, they were just the three commanders that he had chosen for this expedition. They would be heading those down below.

Thorak’s gaze swept over those of the Rhino Lineage down there, his expression calm. There were actually over 3000 of them. A number that was nothing short of overkill, and made it all the more obvious that they were targeting Sylas.

But so what?

The Beast Warlord Sanctum wasn’t a place where they pussyfooted around or hid their intentions. At the very least, the vast majority of them did not.

Sylas’ actions were nothing short of an open challenge. If they half-assed their rebuttal, and he ended up making it through, then it would be too late to regret. There was a lot less that they could do to a True Disciple, and Gralith’s third disciple Gwenu was a prime example of exactly that.

Who knew how many in the Sanctum wanted her dead but could do nothing at all about it?

There wouldn’t be any mistake here, though. Sylas would be going down.

Not only had they amassed these numbers. But Casteel, Udone, and Wenrii… they weren’t normal members of the Sanctum at all.

Udone, ranked third amongst all Rhino Lineage F-tiers and 257th amongst all Sanctum F-tiers.

Wenrii, ranked second amongst all Rhino Lineage F-tiers and 111th amongst all Sanctum F-tiers.

And Casteel… ranked first amongst all Rhino Lineage F-tiers and 63rd amongst all Sanctum F-tiers.

The prestigious top 100 list was something only a rare few could sniff, and Casteel was right there amongst them.

He stood there in silence, his eyes almost lazy, carrying a peculiar weapon on his back. It looked like a two-man saw, curving like the jagged smile of a flesh-eating giant with how much caked blood and string of muscle and sinew hung from it.

But then there were the chains. Those heavy, dragging masses that seemed to weigh so heavy the ground swayed when he shifted his feet even just the slightest bit.

“We will handle this, Thorak,” Wenrii said in a voice that was far more feminine than her appearance. In fact, if you closed your eyes, many a man would have quite a nice time listening to her speak for hours on end.

“Good. Failure won’t be tolerated. Follow the plan. Block all paths first. Locate him second, moving without leaving any gaps. Converge. Defeat him swiftly and with prejudice.”

His voice was laced with cold murder.

According to the rules, there were no number limits, and there also weren’t a limit on the number of Lineages that could participate either. However, Thorak had no intention of relying on other Lineages to make their task easier.

Sylas had insulted the Rhinos, so it would be the Rhinos that grasped their revenge themselves.

If others chose to participate that only meant two things.

First, Sylas’ luck was particularly bad.

Second, so was theirs because this kill would be that of the Rhino Lineage’s.

**

The gathering of the Rhino Lineage didn’t go unnoticed, but that didn’t seem to be the point in the first place. It had been a while since a Disputed Rite had taken place, so it could be said that every member of the Sanctum that was currently disposed was paying attention to what was happening.

Gralith was, of course, no different. In fact, he had returned to the council of Lineage Heads. He had thought that maybe Sylas would want a chance to hear a few pointers from him first before he underwent his rite. It was a bit of an unspoken rule, a loophole that some chose to take advantage of.

Technically, Sylas had already taken advantage of this loophole to a certain extent. But since he was uninterested, there was nothing stopping him from returning here.

But as expected, everyone seemed to have turned their attention to this Disputed Rite instead.

The hall was dim and barely lit with flickering candles of orange and rouge. There was a large obsidian table dozens of Lineage Heads sat around, each one casting a glance toward Gralith quite indifferently. Among them, it was only the 713th Rhino Warlord who grinned from ear to ear.

Gralith only gave him a glance, planning to look away after a moment when the latter actually spoke.

“I would look again, if I were you. It seems I wasn’t the only one interested in this.”
