GUIDE TO RAISE MY CUTIE HUSBANDS

Chapter 1684 - 1684: After the dust settled

“Magistrate Li, Marquis Qiao,” Yu Dong greeted the two women who nodded their heads in greeting. The two of them came to a stop next to her and looked down at the people who were lying unconscious on the street.

“What a tragedy,” said Li Wan as she looked at the silent town that had gone through a dark storm. “I knew that Xian Xieren was one crazy woman but I never thought that she would actually join hands with dark cults for the sake of gaining control.”

“She has always been one crazy bitch,” sneered Qiao Shao. “That woman even killed her own mother for the sake of getting the throne. What else do you think she will not do?”

Li Wan closed her eyes as if it hurt her painfully to look at what was happening around her. On the other hand, Qiao Shao looked down at the people lying on the street and asked Yu Dong, “Are they dead?”

“No,” Yu Dong raised her head along with her eyebrows. “They might look like they are dead but no, they are completely fine. The person who was controlling them died, which is why they are unconscious.”

“Dead? Ah thank goodness,” Qiao Shao wiped the blood off her face. She looked down at the infected people and snorted, “This woman even did something to the refugees, they attacked me like a bunch of ferocious beasts, and I had no choice but to kill them.”

“You did what was important,” said Li Wan as she patted Qiao Sha on the arm. She then turned her attention back to Yu Dong before asking, “Miss Yu, what about these people? Do you know what happened to them?”

“They probably ate the free buns that were handed out by that woman. From what I found out, these buns were made from human flesh with hypnotising bugs inside of them. I will suggest that you send someone to identify the properties of the bugs and create a medicine to eliminate them.”

“Hypnotising bugs?” Qiao Sha’s eyes widened while Li Wan’s expression morphed into disgust. “Human flesh?”

“That’s right,” Yu Dong nodded. “I am sorry but this is the only thing that I can help you with.” She glanced at Yu Mai and the children before saying, “I need to take the children back home. They have suffered through a rather terrifying ordeal.”

“Alright.”

As Li Wan and Qiao Sha had other responsibilities to take care of, they didn’t ask Yu Dong to wait for them.

Lord Ren on the other hand looked at the children who were found by Yu Dong and said to her, “Were these children kidnapped by the members of the dark cult.”

Yu Dong upon hearing the words of Lord Ren paused. Only then did she remember the good things that the Xiao sisters had done.

She did not want them to have an easy time so she hid the matter of the two sisters being fooled by Sister Qiao or the fact that Sister Qiao herself didn’t know whom she was following.

Instead, she turned around and said, “No. They were kidnapped by someone named Sister Qiao. If I am not wrong she has some feuds with Madam Kong. She was also the one who asked the two Xiao Sisters everything about the children and the Kong family plans for the day.”

“That was how they found out where they would find the children, and no, the Xiao Sisters were not fooled they knew exactly for what reason Sister Qiao was asking for information about the Kong family’s children and they did it because they wanted to get their hands on the recipe of the sauce.”

“Sauce?” Lord Ren’s eyebrows narrowed as he looked at Yu Dong and then shifted his gaze to Madam Kong, “What sauce ?”

Madam Kong also wanted to know which sauce was Yu Dong talking about, as she was not an expert when it came to making sauces.

“Is it the sauce that Daddy gave Auntie? The same one that Brother Mai gave to us?” Kong Pili seemed to have understood something and turned to look at Yu Dong who smiled at her and nodded.

“You are really smart, Pili. That’s right, your auntie thought that the sauce was made by your mother and wanted to get hold of the recipe. The two Xiao sisters knew that they couldn’t make your mother hand it over nicely —so they decided to force her hand.”

Yu Dong was quite amused when she thought about how the two Xiao sisters went to such lengths and got nothing in return. After all, the sauce recipe belonged to her family and she would have never handed it over without teaching those two a good lesson.

Did they really think that they would be able to get their hands on the sauce without fighting? Like hell, they would.

When Madam Kong finished listening to Yu Dong’s explanation she was so furious that her face turned red before turning an ugly purple shade.

Sister Qiao… of course, she knew Sister Qiao, this woman was a good-for-nothing thug and had somehow managed to open an inn next to hers. In the past, this woman had once come to her inn and told her that she wanted Madam Kong to shut her inn down.

However, because she was scared off by Old Madam Kong, Madam Kong thought that Sister Qiao had given up on her plans. After all, this woman had never made any more trouble for her in the past five or six months.

Who would have thought that she was waiting for an opportunity to present itself in front of her?

“Sister Qiao, you damned woman!” Madam Kong gritted her teeth so harshly that she nearly turned them into white dust.

“Lord Ren!”

A woman dressed in the uniform of the yamen officer walked over to where lord Ren was standing and said to him, “Lord Ren, we—we have found the Xiao sisters.”

******************–**

When the officers announced that the Xiao sisters had been found, the first thing that Lord Ren did was to head over to where the Xiao sisters were hiding, of course, Madam Kong and Guo Zian also followed them.

Yu Dong, however, didn’t chase after them, instead, she went back to the inn.

“Miss Yu!” As soon as she stepped inside the inn with Yu Le, Yu Jiao Yu and the children, a mer came rushing towards them. Behind the mer were several other mers who came to a stop behind him.

“Master Jing,” Yu Dong smiled at the mer who was eyeing her with great horror. Of course, Yu Dong didn’t find it offensive as Master Jing’s reaction was obviously normal.

Anyone would react like such if they were to see a woman covered in blood walk inside their house.

Yu Dong helped Yu Mai down to the floor of the inn and said to him, “Go and take a bath, wash away the bad luck.”

She then turned to look at her uncles and said to the two of them, “Uncles, can I leave you two to take care of Mai?”

Yu Mai was unwilling to leave his sister after being kidnapped twice. He hugged Yu Dong’s legs and whined, “Noo… I don’t want to go— I don’t want to be alone, sister come with me.”

Yu Dong sighed, she crouched down and patiently explained, “I am not leaving, Mai. I am just going to ask Uncle Jing to bring some nice food for you and your cousins. You want to eat meat buns?”

Upon hearing Yu Dong mention meat buns, Yu Mai’s expression turned disgusted. After hearing what kind of meat buns the people of this city have eaten, he immediately shook his head.

“No—Just..just something light, will do,” Yu Mai replied and the other mers also nodded. They also heard about human flesh filling inside the meat buns earlier.

They had no desire to eat meat at that moment.

Yu Dong also understood what the kids were thinking about, which was why she did not insist anymore and sent them to the rooms where their family was staying.

Once the children were gone, Master Jing looked at Yu Dong and asked hurriedly, “Miss Yu, how is my wife? And brother Guo? Are they alright? What happened—how come everyone suddenly started acting like this?”

“Sister Kong is fine and Brother Guo is also alright,” replied Yu Dong calmly. She then went ahead and explained what happened to the people of the city, including how everything from the two Xiao sisters helping sister Qiao and that woman working for Master Hualin was interconnected.

When Master Jing finished listening to Yu Dong, he burst out angrily, “Truly those two women have no shame. Madam has not treated the Xiao family badly and yet the two of them are still scheming against us.”

“They are just shameless,” bristled Master Ke with an annoyed expression. “Even a dog knows how to be faithful after eating from the hands of his masters and yet those two—they have taken so much money from our family and yet!”

There was a low thumping sound and moans from the inside of the inn but Yu Dong didn’t even look at it as she knew what and who was locked in the room.

Yu Dong said to Master Jing, “If you don’t mind, can you send a few bowls of porridge to my room? There is no need to add meat.”

“Of course,” Master Jing said gratefully. It was because of Yu Dong that his wife and children were alive. If not for her, who knows whether they would have been safe and sound?

Yu Dong nodded and then climbed the stairs to the second floor, master Jing watched her leave and turned to look at the mers behind him. He said to them, “Tell Master Xiao everything. I don’t want him to make a fuss later on. Since his sisters were involved with dark sect members, he can forge about them coming out of the prison for the next few years.”
