Under the blue sky and white clouds, a military ship adorned with seagull insignia slowly sails across the vast blue sea.
Allan, Crocodile, and the others stand on the deck of the ship, watching as Impel Down fades into the distance behind them. This means they have truly escaped.
In the past, the number of people who managed to escape from Impel Down was few and far between, easily counted on one hand (as in one person who is Shiki). Yet there were tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of prisoners held there.
The chance of escaping from Impel Down was only 0.00001%, a slim chance that most people wouldn’t even consider. But today, the myth of Impel Down has been shattered. Even Magellan, who is as powerful as a Marine Admiral, has been defeated.
Although only a handful of people, including Allan and Crocodile, managed to escape, luck was definitely on their side.
Now, they are sailing away on a stolen warship, headed towards the vast sea. However, they find themselves in the region known as the “Calm Belt,” where there is no wind and the sea surface is calm.
The calm belt is a place where Sea Kings reside. Although it appears tranquil, beneath the calm surface, hundreds of Sea Kings lurk.
Sea Kings are the largest species of fish in the sea. While some are gentle and will not attack humans, subsisting on small shrimp, fish, and seaweed, most are ferocious beasts and will launch attacks on passing ships and humans.
Jinbe warned everyone: “Don’t let the Sea Kings destroy our ship, or we’ll all end up in the sea.”
In other words, if they want to stay alive, they must protect the ship at all costs. As soon as someone with Devil Fruit power falls into the sea, they become as powerless as a duck, unable to move a muscle. Even a powerhouse like Crocodile would perish if he fell into the ocean.
Out of the six people present, only Allan and Jinbe are not Devil Fruit users. Crocodile, and his former Baroque Works members Mr. 1 s, Mr. 2, and Mr. 3, all have Devil Fruit powers.
Upon learning that there were Sea Kings lurking beneath the calm waters, the group grew restless. And then, suddenly, hundreds of Sea Kings emerged, each one massive and unique, dwarfing even the largest whales.
The calm sea surface was shattered as a gargantuan blue Sea King rose up from the depths, with a head alone the size of a military vessel. Its eyes, each as big as a basin, curiously fixed on the group’s ship.
But then, its curiosity gave way to a fierce glare, and it began to charge toward them. The Sea King was at least thirty meters high, not even including the portion of its body still hidden under the water.
“Uh oh, it’s coming!” cried Mr. 3, too stunned to even use his Devil Fruit powers to fend off the attack.
In that critical moment, Mr. 2 sprang into action. He charged forward, leaped off the deck, and launched a kick straight at the Sea King’s face. The impact was nothing short of explosive!
The figure of Mr. 2 danced in the air like a ballet dancer, with an eerie beauty that captivated all who beheld it. Suddenly, a dull thud echoed through the air. The face of the sea king before them caved in, taking a heavy blow.
But before anyone could react, the sea king opened its enormous maw, ready to swallow half the ship in one fell swoop. Mr. 2 was caught off guard and had no time to dodge.
Just as all seemed lost, a figure leaped from the deck, brandishing deadly blades. It was none other than Mr. 1.
” Spiral Hollow!” he roared.
In an instant, his fists transformed into razor-sharp blades, as he slashed at the sea king with all his might. Two icy flashes sliced through the air, leaving two long gashes across the sea king’s gaping maw. The beast let out a deafening howl, shutting its jaws in agony.
Mr. 2 breathed a sigh of relief. If it weren’t for Mr. 1, he would have been devoured by the beast. But Mr. 1 didn’t stop there. He continued to unleash a barrage of attacks, each strike hitting its mark with precision.
The sea king’s body, once as solid as a rock, now resembled a block of tofu, sliced and diced into ribbons. Finally, after nearly ten seconds of unrelenting assault, the sea king lay dead, its body riddled with gaping wounds.
As they sailed away from the scene, the corpse of the sea king floated eerily in the water, a grim reminder of the harsh reality of life in the sea. They knew that they couldn’t let their guard down, for in this world, it was truly survival of the fittest.
“Thanks, Daz Bones,” Mr. 2 said, grateful to have survived the attack.
“Hmph, I just didn’t want that sea king to sink our ship,” Mr. 1 replied, though his actions spoke louder than his words. In truth, he had acted out of concern for his comrade’s safety.
As they continued to sail, they knew that more sea kings awaited them in the treacherous waters ahead, and they would need to be prepared for whatever lay ahead.
