CHAPTER START---

"Over there!" Endeavor yells as he rockets into the sky.

The screaming crowd barely registers what he's saying as those in the front row can see the two bodies while the people farther in the back are simply confused at the chaos.

Endeavor releases condensed flames and launches himself toward a bright, shining light they can all see on the top floor of a skyscraper.

Over three miles away. Ryukyu and Nejire-Chan are one step behind Endeavor as Hawks spreads his feathers out to check the immediate area around the civilians.

'This can't be happening. You're supposed to be invincible,' Lemillion thinks as he rushes over to Horizon.

As he gets closer, two security agents begin pulling Pantu away as the cameras turn to them.

Showing the entire world that Pantu had a tennis ball-sized hole in her left shoulder, and as for Horizon. He has an identical, perfectly shaped hole in the middle of his skull.

The ground behind them also had the same thing, and the sight of it all caused Lemillion to hesitate for just a moment.

"Lemillion," Aizawa calls out to him. "Go support Endeavor. There isn't anything you can do here."

"Right! Yes, sensei!" Lemillion looks toward Endeavor and takes a deep breath, activating his Quirk to become permeable and falling through the ground.

As his matter overlaps with the earth, he manipulates his Quirk and body to rocket himself hundreds of meters away before he has to surface for air.

As he launches out of the road, he sees the light in the distance disappear for a moment before appearing on another building across from its first location.

He ignores the traffic he appeared in and takes another deep breath before landing, and sinks into the earth once more.

Within three breaths he's far ahead of Endeavor, hot on the trail of the man who killed Horizon.

While the Pro Heroes were giving chase, the entire world was shocked and mortified at what the cameras were showing them.

With Pantu sitting up and Panacea poured into her mouth, the bleeding stopped, and the flesh and bone visibly regenerated. The emergency medics approached Horizon and were unsure of how to begin.

There was standard procedure for regular humans, and for people with strange Quirks.

But nobody was sure of what to do for Horizon.

As his blood pooled around his body they were forced to choose, either remove his visor to force feed him Panacea in hopes of somehow healing him.

All at the risk of whatever energy compromised his body leaking out uncontrollably and harming the tens of thousands here.

Or to let him die while the world is watching.

His lies had compounded to such an extent that saving his life became too high a risk for others to take.

"Don't take me away," Pantu tells her security team as they put her on a stretcher.

She wanted to stay, to see what the result of this would be.

"Come on," Pantu chants, and in the eerie silence as the crowd holds their breath, it seems like she cheered for him to somehow perform a miracle.

People were silently weeping as they watched the large screens above the stage, praying for one thing or the other.

Even Mt. Lady, Horizon's most vocal critic, never wanted to see something like this.

Because in this moment she's reminded, that for all his power, accomplishments, and arrogance, he's still merely 17 years old.

A boy playing god.

But before all the memories could rise up, before she could truly regret how she treated him.

Before a single tear could form.

A geyser of healing energy released from the hole in his skull. Reaching five stories tall and scattering with the wind, as like a puppet on strings.

Horizon gets up.

The crowd cheers, some shed tears, and Pantu keeps Facade active to not display her despair to the world.

Horizon slams both his hands onto the floor and he weakly drags himself to his knees, then desperately tries to catch his breath.

"For a moment there, you almost had me worried," Nezu says as Aizawa walks over to Horizon, carrying him on his shoulder. "Almost…"

Horizon forces himself to stand, stumbling slightly before catching himself.

Some of the security agents see this and move to help him up, but Aizawa stops them.

"Don't get too close! We don't know how much of this is him, and how much is instinct."

Everyone either instinctively or consciously takes a few steps back.

"And if it's instinct?" Edgeshot asks.

"Then it won't be our problem for long," Aizawa says.

As the world holds its breath, Horizon reaches up and removes his visor, allowing him to properly breath as energy vapor pours off his body.

Many people throw up at the sight of his injury, a large gaping hole punched cleanly through his skull, healing at an unusually slow pace, for Horizon.

"Light?" Horizon mutters, reaching up to check his injury and wincing when he touches it. "Light…won't happen again."

He looks over at Pantu, seeing her injury.

"Won't happen again."

He then disappears, leaving everyone present very concerned.

While that was happening, Lemillion had finally caught up to his target.

The man launched a series of ziplines to reach the train station before the Pro Heroes could catch him, but thanks to both Quirk and mastery, Lemillion was able to predict this and cut him off.

Taking a deep breath he sank into the earth and to the basement of a skyscraper before launching himself upward.

Timing his Permeation perfectly as he phased through the floors and objects to constantly repel himself upward, toward the roof of this skyscraper.

"Gotcha!" Lemillion arrives through the floor of this roof, as the man does the same.

The man panics and launches his zipline at the next building, directly at Lemillion.

But the hero spins in mid-air and kicks the man, phasing his foot through the zipline and making it solid just before contact with the man's face.

Hitting him so hard that he's sent tumbling backward, giving Lemillion a chance to land and observe the man's glowing right eye.

"Why did you attack Horizon?" Lemillion asks.

Instead of attacking, the man raises his hands in surrender, surprising the hero. "I'm unarmed, my Quirk took six weeks to charge that shot, no need to hurt me," the man says, in French.

Lemillion looks slightly confused, unable to understand the man.

So instead he just points and him, and says "Stay there!" in English, then repeats it in Japanese.

The man complies, which he's happy to see.

Lemillion doesn't take his eyes off the man, considering the situation very carefully.

'That attack was instant, or damn near instant. If Horizon could detect it then it must have been some sort of hard light attack, moving at almost light speed to catch him off guard.

This guy's eye is glowing and the right side of his face has burns, so it must be an accumulation and release type Quirk like Eri and Fat Gum. He won't be using it again for a while.

No wonder he surrendered so easily. If he had conventional weapons Horizon would have detected him, but detecting light must be tough, or saturate his senses too much. So this guy is fine with surrendering since the job is already done.

Too bad for him.

He won't be enjoying whatever money he got for killing Horizon after we lock him up in Tartarus.'

"Lemillion!" Endeavor calls out, his voice a moment ahead of the searing heat that announces his arrival. Landing on the roof, he lowers his flames, seeing the villain already cornered. "What happened?"

"Nothing, he just surrendered, how is Horizon?"

"A minute ago they said he started moving, but I haven't heard anything since," Endeavor says while taking out a pair of handcuffs. "What do we know about this Villain's Quirk?"

"Well I know he speaks French and his Quirk is likely a light accumulation type with a massive cooldown after use, but be careful."

"Alwa—" Then both freeze as between them and the villain, Horizon suddenly appears.

Standing there, staring down at the man while energy vapor pours off his body.

They both instinctively step back, having noticed the gaping hole in his head.

The villain also falls backward, trying to scurry away.

But with a thought his clothes move, dragging him along toward Horizon.

Ryukyu and Nejire-Chan arrive at the rooftop just in time to see Horizon grab the man's head and use Bioelectric Mimicry to rip all the information he can out of him.

In the moment they couldn't decide what the be more horrified by, the sight of Horizon's gaping injury.

The blood-curdling screams of the villain.

Or the villain's face and head all but melting into sludge between Horizon's palms.

Nejire-Chan looks away and Ryukyu moves to block her with her wings.

As the screaming stops they see Horizon stumble backward and bump into Endeavor.

The man helps him stand for a moment, until Horizon gathers his thoughts.

"Shigaraki," he says as Ryukyu and Nejire land with the others.

Once again he disappears.

This time he appears before Shigaraki in Tartarus.

Shigaraki was confined to a steel room with thick glass for visitors to speak to him, with a distinct square mission from his chest.

While sitting against the far wall he sees Horizon appear. "What the hell?"

"Your plan, Lightshot, targeting me, targeting Pantu. It worked," Horizon says as he places his visor in front of the glass.

The visor was in its full form, allowing Shigaraki to see the hole punched through it, matching the one still healing in Horizon's head.

"Very well played," Horizon says. "Lowering my guard by surrendering and using my one weakness against me."

"Not good enough. You lived."

"Yes, but against anyone else, you'd win," Horizon says. "It's just unfortunate that your opponent was me…"

With those words, the last words they would share.

He warps away, eager to return to Horizon Tower and sleep off his injuries.

And a few cells away, deeper in the depths of floor 5, the Demon Lord hears everything, knows everything, and smiles.

All his pieces were falling into place, as while everyone else was playing chess.

He was stacking them like dominos, and now…

'It's almost time to push them all over, just one last piece to line up…'
