MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1554: A Visit Long OverdueChapter 1554: A Visit Long Overdue
“Man…”
To the west of Algerie Kingdom, a man with light gray hair could be seen leaning on the railing of a watchtower, their expression that of immense boredom.
“I really shouldn’t have listened to Jacques,” murmured the man to himself, faintly shaking his head. “When he told me this mission paid out a lot of points, I didn’t even hesitate to accept it in his stead.”
“…Now I’m starting to regret it, considering I’ve been staring at nearly nothing for the past couple of months.”
While looking around for missions he could accept back at the Blacksmith Guild, the man had coincidentally come across Jacques after the latter recently finished his own mission.
Asking him more about how his friend fared on that mission, the man’s interest was immediately piqued the moment he heard from Jacques that he had a fateful encounter with Ylvar while he was out on that mission.
Because of that, he showed no hesitation in accepting the same mission his friend did, even if the only reason he had in doing so was the small possibility of being able to meet the rising star of the Blacksmith Guild.
“…How the hell did Jacques endure this for over half a year?” asked the man to himself, finding the thought he blurted out somewhat absurd. “I’m already over three months in, but I’ve already exhausted everything I can do to not bore myself to death.”
Whoosh!
Just as those words left his mouth, the man felt a strong gust of wind blow through the watchtower all of a sudden, prompting him to look upward and see where the sudden wind was coming from.
With that, he quickly noticed a large azure dragon hovering high up in the air, causing his eyes to widen in utter disbelief.
At the same time, he recalled the words his good friend had told him regarding his fateful encounter with Ylvar.
’At first, I thought of the strong winds as peculiar. After all, the forecast that day was different from the strong winds I was feeling.’
’Though, when I saw that the cause of the wind was that azure dragon in the sky, then I saw the person that was on that azure dragon come to the ground with ease…’
’It was there that I found out… that I was talking to none other than Ylvar himself.’
Fwoosh!
Continuing to keep his eyes on the azure dragon at all times, the man watched as the azure dragon eventually disappeared on its own, only for a young man above it to start falling from the skies a few seconds.
Swoosh!
With Jacques’ words still echoing in his mind at that moment, the man suppressed the immense excitement he felt, watching as the latter cancel out the momentum he built up with a Wind-based spell directed at the ground.
“…Phew.” Letting out a faint sigh of relief as he felt himself touch ground once more, Valyr took a brief look at his surroundings, only to then faintly smile as he took note of the watchtower that kept watch over his territory once more.
Deciding to head towards the watchtower before proceeding with his actual task in the area, the young man thought about the man he had interacted with in the past, recalling that he had promised the man a forging hammer once he came back.
However, rather than be greeted by the sight of the man named Jacques, a different man on the tower appeared within his field of vision instead.
Then again, the admiration and reverence the man showed towards him was similar to what Jacques had shown him in the past.
“…What happened to Jacques?” asked Valyr, giving the man a look of slight confusion.
“He returned to the Blacksmith Guild a couple of months ago after completing his mission here,” answered the man in a respectful tone. “I’ve taken his place here since then.”
“I see.” The young man eventually nodded in understanding. “How much longer will you stay here before your mission is complete?”
“Er… nine more months,” replied the man with slight confusion, only for it to intensify as he noticed Valyr smiling at him because of it.
Fortunately, before he could even ask the young man why he was smiling all of a sudden, the former let out a chuckle as he gave the man a satisfied nod. “Guess we’ll be seeing each other quite often over the next few months, then.”
“Since that’s the case… mind telling me your name?”
“It’s Cole… sir,” replied the man, his eyes glistening with immense adoration for Valyr. “Cole Eirro.”
“Cole, huh…” Committing the name to memory, the young man nodded with a smile as he took out a pair of forging hammers from his spatial bracelet.
Whoosh!
Then, wrapping both hammers with a bit of his energy, he then sent them to Cole, who caught them with a look of confusion on his face.
“Consider it as a token of gratitude for keeping an eye on my territory while I was away,” said Valyr, explaining the reason behind him giving Cole the pair of forging hammers. “Note that one of them is for you, while the other one is for Jacques.”
“I trust that you’ll give the other one to Jacques, right?”
“I will!” answered the man, the joy he felt towards the encounter now bursting out at the seams.
“Good.” Valyr chuckled in response, telling Cole afterwards that he could head back to the guild for the meantime to give Jacques his forging hammer.
Noticing the hesitation on the man’s face, the young man gave him a look of assurance. “Don’t worry. I’ll be here for a good while this time. Just try to come back as soon as possible.”
With those words dispelling the remaining hesitation Cole had, Valyr eventually watched the man leave the watchtower with an excited expression, only to zoom through the air through a movement skill a few seconds later.
Whoosh!
“Quite the interesting fellow,” murmured the young man with a slight smile as he took yet another look at the territory that he currently owned.
Conjuring a copy to do Cole’s task while the man was away for the meantime, the young man adjusted the general set of instructions he gave to his copies before inputting it into the one he just created.
After readjusting its instructions a couple of times due to some errors, Valyr eventually nodded in satisfaction after seeing that the copy was now beginning to serve the purpose he gave it.
Watching the copy keep an eye on his territory for a bit more, the young man soon made his way towards the center of his territory, only to conjure yet another copy that kept an eye on his current surroundings.
Once he made sure that the new copy fulfilled its task yet again, it was only then did Valyr conjure a rift in front of him, appearing at the plains of the Four Pillars’ Inheritance not long after.
