There was, however, one complication, Xin was an Altered.
Through research, though, Gary had discovered something. It turned out he could temporarily suppress someone’s Altered powers by biting them. It wouldn’t last forever, but it was enough.
So, he’d bitten Xin once when he made the decision. Then, just before leaving to deal with the Altered Hunters and the Lupus Pack, he bit her again, to solidify the connection, even if he didn’t fully understand how it worked.
