Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System
Chapter 576 - 576: Nyxvein, The Veil of Fate (1)Kalyra, a child who never knew peace.
Her story began when she was just seven years old.
She hailed from a clan called Veilshadow. They are humans with a natural affinity for shadows. They excel in sneaking around, every last one of them.
Naturally, they are shadows.
Kalyra was orphaned at birth. Her parents were never found or known; they never belonged to the Veilshadow bloodline from the start.
However, she had a family.
They took her in, and she lived a good life for seven years. However, on her seventh birthday, a great massacre happened in her clan when the clan chief’s youngest son pissed off a prince from a powerful kingdom.
That day, Kalyra and her family were laughing and celebrating her birthday when the masked men came.
Perhaps due to how demented they were, when they entered Kalyra’s home, the killers started laughing as they slaughtered everyone.
Kalyra lost everything: her family, her friends, her neighbors. Everyone was slaughtered, including her. However, while everyone was bleeding red, Kalyra bled shadows.
Her blood was smoky like the shadows, and when night came, when darkness enveloped everywhere, she came back from the dead.
It appeared she had the rarest kind of Veilshadow bloodline, the Unbra-Veilshadow bloodline. This bloodline existed during the primordial Era and was said to have gone extinct when the bearer died in the great war.
But it appeared again, and this time, running through Kalyra’s veins.
Luckily, or perhaps unluckily for her, she was found by a dark organization of assassins known as the Silent Veil.
There, she was trained in the deadliest arts: poisons, blade mastery, infiltration, and manipulation of shadow energy. Her natural talents soon surpassed her mentors.
Her natural affinity to shadows made her someone born to kill using the shadows as her weapon. Soon, she was unleashed into the world.
It took just a few years for her code name to start spreading. They called her the Joker, for her laughter never faded away whenever she was after you.
It was concerning behavior to exhibit by a human being; however, the Joker was no human.
She was once a human whose happiness was stolen away.
So whenever she takes her own life, the reminder of the last moment with her family echoes in her mind, making her laugh as she kills.
By some twisted cosmic intervention, her abilities are enhanced whenever she bursts into laughter, making her a terror of an assassin.
Her unique behavior soon raised her name to the point that her maniacal lifestyle reached the books of hundreds of assassin guilds, including her own guild, the Silent Veil.
Legend spoke of the ‘Night of Endless Blades.’
That night, the Joker single-handedly assassinated 1,022 assassin guild leaders, and the collateral damage she caused numbered in the tens of thousands.
The legend speaks of that endless night when her laughter filled every corner, leaving bodies in her wake.
That night, she destroyed her entire guild, the Silent Veil, for she found out they were part of the reason she had lost everyone.
Despite her tribe, the Veilshadow, having powerful warriors, they all died like dogs. This was the Silent Veil, known for killing without making even a sound.
They sneakily poisoned the warriors of her tribe, allowing this great massacre to happen.
So she slaughtered every last one of them, laughing like the maniac she was.
Then she vanished.
Hundreds of years went by, and just when her name was dying from everyone’s mind, she appeared, this time going after the tyrannical King of Haldris.
Legend spoke of the king who wiped out races just because he had a bad Tuesday. Every tribe, clan, and race under him knew no peace.
He was untouchable.
Thousands of assassins went after him, but none returned—until the Joker visited him. That day, the Joker became an idol to everyone because her blade had set millions, perhaps billions, free.
However, despite her feat, she never felt like she had accomplished anything. Behind her maniacal laughter, she was but a lonely child who lost her happiness when she was seven.
The only thing that gave her purpose was killing. So when she dominated the world, she went into other worlds and continued spreading her name.
However, after thousands of years of killing, to the point that immortals ask her permission before doing anything, she craves something that will set her among the greatest ever.
Along the way, she discovered that her legacy would be nothing but good riddance when she was gone. So, she sought an ending where her name would be written among the stars like her idol, the Silent Reaper.
However, even after years, she never had her chance, so she let go of the waking world and secluded herself in the void where time is nonexistent.
Legends speak of the day of the Shattering Eclipse, when the Void shattered and a Primordial Entity appeared, bringing with it the power of shadows.
Legend spoke of that day as the day the Universe grew desperate again, since the great war during the Primordial Era.
There was no hope of defeating the entity; even worse, everyone was running. But there was nowhere to run.
However, when all hope was lost, legend speaks of the moment the void opened and Kalyra walked out.
They said she walked out, bathed from head to toe in the names of every single soul she had killed. She regretted her actions for some lives she took, but it was already over.
However, watching as more innocents were dying, she couldn’t stand back and watch, so she paid the price, which was her bloodline.
Only weapons, spells, skills, and bloodlines from the Primordial Era could defeat the Primordial Entity.
So she made the ultimate sacrifice, opening the void and taking the entity into it. For 667 days, their battles echoed into the void.
In the end, she used her ultimate move that legend speaks still echoes in the void if one pays close enough attention.
The Cosmic Gambit.
Legends speak of when she unleashed the ultimate move, which tied her fate line to that of the Primordial Entity.
The scroll speaks of the moment a genuine smile appeared on her face for the first time in 399,993 years. That was the day she smiled genuinely and severed her own fate, bringing the entity down with her.
The forbidden records speak of that as the third time the universe shed tears. Thus, on that fateful day, she gave herself a name, one that captured her true essence.
Nyxvein, The Veil of Fate.
Kent stared at Lady Lani, covered in a mist of shadow and darkness, and for some reason, a tear fell from his eyes. But she wasn’t the only one; every last one of her sisters held teary eyes as they stared at Lady Lani hovering in the air.
“They first called her Kalyra, the abandoned child… Then she became the child who never knew peace…”
