Regressor Instruction Manual

Chapter 1076: Picnic (39) (Illustration)

“His real name is Woo Hyo-Yeol, and he's twenty-three years old. Looks like he was summoned from Earth, and he looks like how you described him—Ah!

"He has a few more piercings. He has one on his tongue. You see the picture, right? Well, it doesn’t really matter,” Lee Ji-Hye said.

‘Yeah, I see it.’

I wasn’t sure why he took this picture, but he was making a peace sign with his hand and his tongue sticking out of his mouth.

‘He’s probably a complete thug…’

“He’s described as a confident individual, but it's arrogance, not confidence, and that is his weakness. He’s probably an asshole, but of course, he won't write that on his resume. He’s haughty, and he thinks only about himself. It says that he prefers working alone.

"In his first life, he didn’t join a group or create his own clan… He’s only had parties a few times throughout his previous life, and it happened three times when he was just starting out as an adventurer. He no longer joined parties after he got used to the raids,” Lee Ji-Hyee explained.

“So it’s not that he lacks social skills…” I said.

“He doesn’t lack social skills. It’s more like he’s rejecting society. He’s different from Kim Hyun-Sung. I think he’s a guy who lives off of his pride,” Lee Ji-Hye continued.

“Why the hell did they turn him into a regressor? Did they not make him take a personality test or something? Were they so desperate that they used someone with this bad of a personality?” I questioned.

“You should know the answer to that. I thought you asked Chanelia Hermes,” Lee Ji-Hye replied.

I had no idea that the regressor was this bad, so I didn't bother asking.

Actually, I just wanted someone to talk badly about him with me.

Ahem, ahem. His combat prowess is the reason behind he became a regressor. It's why he became the regressor of Rohen,” Lee Ji-Hye said.

Chanelia told me that as well. The first reason they turned him into a regressor was because of his combat prowess—actually, it was the only reason.

However, I was sure Rohen had no other choice. To survive the chaotic continent, they needed someone who could fight the demon lords rather than take many things into consideration, and that was when Woo Hyo-Yeol caught their attention.

“Rohen is in the middle of their second tutorial. I don’t know the details, but their tutorial dungeon seems similar to ours. The difficulty is slightly higher than ours, but rather than explaining this to you, I think it’s best if you see it with your own eyes,” Lee Ji-Hye said.

Ji-Hye noona tapped on the file, and a video was played on the screen.

‘It's not going to be a good reference material.’

It was all because the monsters in the beginner’s area couldn't possibly hurt him.

I had to be satisfied with just getting a rough idea of his prowess.

‘Even if that were true.’

He was strong and with his own style.

Woo Hyo-Hyeol was surrounded by monsters. It was interesting to see him using two blades that were shorter than normal swords but longer than a dagger. Given the nature of the location, he had no other choice but to wield such weird weapons, but he looked really natural wielding them.

Of course, I wasn't an expert when it came to swordsmanship, but there was a saying that the sparrow near a school would eventually sing the primer.

I compared him to the sword experts I had met so far, and I couldn't say that he was inferior to them.

‘No, that’s not swordsmanship.’

The way he moved told me that this was just a simple fight. He blocked with one sword and attacked with the other. He repeated that basic routine, but his attacks were always fatal.

‘He doesn’t have a form either.’

He had no form, and neither were his swords moved in specific directions.

He was just moving based on his instincts, so I felt like I was staring at a beast. His flexibility made my jaw drop, and the sight made me question if he was even human. He dodged the enemy’s attack by bending his back in a way that I couldn’t understand, and he swung his sword in an incomprehensible way to chop off the head of his enemy.

His movements weren't optimized. An example of this was that he had no idea when to put his weight into certain moves, but he was pretty strong.

Woo Hyo-Yeol was smiling while bullying his opponents. He stuck his tongue out to provoke them. He would even throw his swords at them before lunging at them and throwing them away.

He leaned his head back so far that I thought his head was going to touch the ground, and the sight made me feel like he was being too reckless. However, his sword swings even while rolling on the ground were pretty effective.

His every move was cruel and brutal.

‘He’s a genius.’

Compared to Kim Hyun-Sung, he was a different kind of genius. If I had to pick someone to compare him with, I'd say he was closer to Hee-Ra noona, but it wasn't the case at the same time.

If Cha Hee-Ra's Strength were beyond human standards, then Woo Hyo-Yeol abandoned every combat norm out there and used no swordsmanship nor art to fight. He was making his own techniques in real time.

Dozens of monsters collapsed in a pool of their own blood in just a few minutes. The result wouldn’t be any different, even if his opponents were human beings. The video playing next to the first video showed me that he had no issues dealing with humans.

His cruelty and brutality were actually more effective on humans.

‘Damn it.’

I didn’t want to acknowledge it, but…

‘He seems useful.’

"Ahhh!"

"H-Help me! Please…"

"Run! Damn it! Run!"

"Haha. Idiots."

"Spare…"

"What? What did you say? I can’t hear you. Say it again."

"Spare me… please…"

Someone grabbed the hem of his pants and started begging for mercy, but he kicked their jaw and stabbed them without mercy. I had to fix that behavior, as what he had done was completely unnecessary.

"Idiot. That’s why you should’ve picked someone your own size."

“I think he’s useful as well. He does have power that matches his arrogance. Unlike Jung Jin-Ho, I don’t think he’s a psychopath, and I think he’s indifferent toward other people as long as they don’t pick a fight with him or get in his way.

"Of course, there are a few things about his behavior that have to be corrected,” Lee Ji-Hye said.

“...”

“But he’s the type of person I really don’t like. You agree, right?” Lee Ji-Hye asked.

“He’s the type of person we will never encounter in society. He’s just a thug who wields dual daggers. I think he’s wielding dual daggers because it looks cool,” I answered.

“He’s just a strong thug. Based on his personality, it’ll be hard to ask for his cooperation. I think I finally understand why Rohen wanted your help. You’re obviously a self-righteous person. If a thug like him becomes the leader of a guild and leads a group, the continent will never be peaceful.

"At least Kim Hyun-Sung is handsome. He's also charismatic and responsible enough for people to follow him. Unfortunately, this guy doesn’t have any of Kim Hyun-Sung's qualities,” Lee Ji-Hye explained.

“Was Hyun-Sung… responsible?” I questioned.

“He does his best with his tasks. Anyway, we're still discussing how we can enter Rohen, and we need more information as well. Gela and Sahaga are working hard to take care of those, so I think you can just trust them and wait,” Lee Ji-Hye informed me.

“They must be useful,” I commented.

“Sahaga has experience managing other continents. I assigned it to him because I thought he was suitable for the role, and he’s handling it pretty well. He's actually pretty responsible,” Lee Ji-Hye said.

Ji-Hye noona was wearing a pair of sunglasses and was getting a tan in front of the oasis. She took a sip of her drink before continuing, “Of course, what we've seen isn't enough to determine what kind of person Woo Hyo-Hyeol is. That’s why I invited a guest so we can get more details about him.”

“Chanelia Hermes?” I asked.

“No, a member of your guild,” Lee Ji-Hye replied.

Before I could ask any questions, I saw a figure walking toward us.

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young!”

“Elena?”

Elena was one of Blue Guild’s competent priests, and she was a High Elf known as the Daughter of Elune. Elena's emerald hair billowed in the wind, and she was dressed more extravagantly than usual. Perhaps it was because she was an elf, but the Desert Elves' traditional outfit suited her better than anyone else.

I thought it wouldn’t look good on her, as it was a different style from her usual clothes, but I was wrong.

“It’s been a while, Ji-Hye,” Elena greeted.

“You’re looking pretty today, Elena. You still have beautiful hair,” Lee Ji-Hye complimented her.

“Again with the compliments…” Elena muttered.

‘What the? Since when were they this close? And when did they start talking casually?’

“I called her out so we can have lunch together, Mr. Lee Ki-Young. Is that okay?” Lee Ji-Hye asked.

“Of course,” I answered.

“How’s the Continental Protection Management Committee doing these days?” Elena asked.

“It’s the same all the time. I actually want to quit, but they must have a conscience because they sent me here for vacation. How’s your older brother?” Elena asked.

“Don’t get me started on him. He’s been acting like nothing’s wrong… but I think he still hasn’t forgotten,” Elena answered.

Elena and Ji-Hye noona chattered away. They started talking about work and really personal stories, so it became clear that they had spent a lot of time together.

I was kind of surprised, as they kind of looked like best friends. Moreover, Elena seemed to be enjoying her company more than being in the Blue Guild. Although we were in the same guild and could be considered family, Elena was strangely estranged.

‘It’s understandable. Is she at least close to Sun Hee-Young?’

I was sure they had many things in common, as they were both priests, but sadly, Sun Hee-Young wasn’t the outgoing type. Actually, I thought Elena and Yoo Ah-Young got along, but I was taken aback to learn that she was so close with Lee Ji-Hye.

“Are you enjoying your vacation?” Lee Ji-Hye asked.

“No. It’s because of my older brother…” Elena answered.

“Did something happen to Mr. Elias?” I asked.

Ah, yes. Well, it’s a long story…” Elena said.

Obviously, we enjoyed our time together. Ji-Hye noona and I enjoyed gossiping, especially when we were gossiping with Elias’ sister. In addition…

“I think the guild master went a little overboard,” Elena complained.

Ha… haha,” I laughed awkwardly.

“He's a self-righteous person. He’s not a bad person, but he finds it hard to break out of his own thoughts once he gets caught up in them," I said.

‘We need to talk behind Kim Hyun-Sung’s back as well.’

“He’s similar to my brother in that sense. It’s my first time seeing him that drunk, so I was surprised when I saw him… I’m sure there’s a lot of pent-up anger inside of him, but he was too—has he apologized to you yet, Mr. Ki-Young?” Elena asked.

“No, not yet…” I mumbled.

“He’s so mean,” Elena commented.

“I agree. He didn’t even send him a message, Elena,” Lee Ji-Hye chimed in.

“I see him in a different light now. I don’t know what happened between you two, but he should have apologized after that outburst… The things that happened when you two went out and the mistake that happened at the party are two different things, after all,” Elena continued.

Of course, talking behind Kim Hyun-Sung's back wasn’t my goal here.

We talked for a while, and I felt my frustration being slightly assuaged. We talked about many topics as we walked through Laves, which I was actually getting tired of now.

We ate, drank coffee, and moved somewhere else.

When we sat down at a cafe, Lee Ji-Hye finally asked, “Elena, can I ask you for a favor?”

“A favor?” Elena asked.

“Yeah. A friend of mine wants to go on a blind date, but she wants to know what kind of person he is first. I brought a picture of him,” Lee Ji-Hye answered.

Huh? Ah… I don’t mind helping you, but I need to see him in person rather than a picture of him,” Elena replied.

“Don’t worry about that. Can you take a look first?” Lee Ji-Hye requested.

“Looking into someone’s soul isn’t that easy… If a picture is all you have, don’t expect too much,” Elena warned.

It seemed that Elena had to see her target in person for her skill to be effective, so she warned Lee Ji-Hye not to have high expectations. However, Ji-Hye noona seemed confident as she gave Elena the picture.

Huh?

“...”

Hurk. Huuurk!

“...”

Bleeergh!

Elena threw up the food that she had just eaten.

Bleeeeeck!
