Chapter 1517: Kidnapped

Another person chimed in, “As expected of the wife of the Primus. She’s also much bolder than others. She’s very tactful!”

Hearing this, the others cast glances at Qiao Xuan, exchanging surprised looks. Indeed, any other lady would have been terrified and tearful, yet Madam Shao remained silent since waking up, exuding an uncanny calmness.

Could it be that the wife of the Primus was truly exceptional?

“Listen carefully, be honest! The area within a radius of dozens of kilometers is filled with deep mountains and forests. There are ferocious beasts and countless poisonous snakes and insects. If you dare to have any thoughts of escaping, hmph, I advise you to quickly give up on that idea!”

Internally cursing at the irony of being lectured while bound and gagged, Qiao Xuan grumbled. You’ve blocked my mouth and tied me up; how do you expect me to run away? Why bother with such unnecessary warnings?

...

Ignoring her, the six individuals settled on the ground, engaging in casual conversation before succumbing to sleep.

Clearly exhausted from transporting her to this remote location, the snoring of one person grated on Qiao Xuan’s nerves.

Frustrated, she thought, Can’t you all be a bit more conscious of guarding a hostage? Is it wise to sleep so soundly? How little regard you have for me! Is this your idea of being non-threatening or just plain insulting?

Attempting to move her arm, she quickly dismissed the idea of breaking free. Their high regard for her was evident in the flexible and professionally applied rope. If it were Ah-Ye, he might have found a way out, but for her, escape seemed impossible.

All Qiao Xuan could do was wait for them to remember to untie her, biding her time for future plans.

The six of them slept deeply, unaware of the passing time. As they stirred awake, the sky was painted with the hues of sunset, signaling the approaching darkness.

Surprised by their prolonged slumber, they grumbled amongst themselves and swiftly dispersed to gather firewood, kindle a fire, fetch water, and procure dry rations.

Observing only two remaining individuals in the cave, Qiao Xuan attempted to struggle against her restraints.

Angrily, the two men scowled at her. “What are you doing!”

“Mm-mm-mm!”

Qiao Xuan strained, her eyes wide with effort.

Impatiently, one of them stepped closer and brusquely removed the cloth gagging her. “Shut up!”

Sighing softly, Qiao Xuan pleaded, “Sir, could you untie me? I can’t escape from this place. It’s incredibly uncomfortable staying here all day…”

Glancing at her, the man considered her request. Realizing her odds of escape were slim, untying her would relieve the burden of keeping a constant watch. He sneered in response, “Behave yourself!”

With her hands freed, Qiao Xuan massaged her bruised and bloodied wrists, inwardly sneering at their complacency. Once liberated, they could abandon hope of apprehending her.

Gently flexing her legs, Qiao Xuan stood up and quietly made her way out of the cave.

“Stop! What do you think you’re doing!”

In a hushed tone, Qiao Xuan addressed them, “Lord, I need to release myself…”

The two men overheard her and erupted into crude laughter. One of them teasingly remarked, “Oh, I see! But it’s not safe outside. Shall I accompany you, Madam Shao? Hahahaha!”
