While Flora searched for other books in the house, Nathan and Alavenya had entered the research facility.

“This…” Alavenya widened her eyes in shock. “Aliens?”

There were numerous tubes filled with green-colored liquid. It was translucent enough for them to see what was hidden inside the liquid. It was an alien’s body.

“How many are they?” Nathan gasped.

“From the looks of it, 28?”

Nathan squinted his eyes. “These aliens… Are they still alive, Anubis?”

Anubis closed his eyes for a moment. “Rather than asking that question, you should take a closer look at these aliens.”

“What do you mean?” Nathan was confused, but he tried to approach one of the aliens floating in the tube.

“!!!” Alavenya took a step back while pointing at the alien. “That… That… Look at the back!”

“!!!” Nathan hurriedly followed her finger and saw the back of the alien. The alien looked like every alien they had encountered so far. The back was not different, but there was something that made it peculiar. The black cell was actually half detached from the alien.

Normally, the black cell would be moving around the alien’s body depending on what they needed to do, but the alien in this tube had its black cell half detached as though something ripped them apart.

“This is…” Nathan sucked in a cold breath. He glanced at the other aliens. If he looked closely, the state of other aliens was practically the same. The black cell was half-detached.

“Is such a thing possible?” Alavenya asked.

“I don’t know.” Nathan frowned. “Still, we know that the black cell is the most annoying one, right? There’s also a chance that this is the one controlling the alien, right? If they’re leaving the host, will the alien act like a normal alien?

“No one has ever managed to make them like this, but this research…” Nathan glanced at other tubes. “If they can split the alien from the black cell, what would happen?”

“…” Alavenya couldn’t answer that question. But there were some possibilities. The first one was the alien would die because the black cell had controlled it too much or for too long.

The second possibility was what Nathan mentioned earlier. If the aliens returned to normal aliens, what would happen to this world?

Nathan’s expression turned solemn. “It appears this research is not just an ordinary one. It’s one of the most absurd but needed.”

Alavenya nodded. “Should we bring them back with us? If this research is useful, we should bring them and try to do it.”

“I don’t know. First of all, Charlotte isn’t that interested in this topic, according to herself, and it’s not like this is my teacher’s field. So even if we bring this back, people will try to take over the research.

“If they have pure intentions, it’s good, but what if they’re like the Divine Hand?”

Nathan couldn’t allow another organization like the Divine Hand to possess such research. If the Divine Hand could make a human get taken over by aliens, he couldn’t imagine what would happen to humans once they completed this research.

If it had to be buried, it should be here where no one knew this location.

Nathan crossed his arms. “For now, let’s explore this building first. We’ll discuss what we’re going to do after regrouping with the rest.”

Alavenya nodded.

In the end, this building was quite tall, so they could probably find something else in this building.

Unlike Flora and Noelle, who found the book written directly by the professor, the building Nathan and Alavenya were in didn’t contain much information. It contained all kinds of experiments he conducted in this place, mostly the tubes filled with the liquid and aliens.

The second floor was the storage where they found alien skins hung around the floor as if he were trying to dry them.

Meanwhile, on the third floor, it contained another tube, but unlike the ones on the first floor, there was only a single tube on this floor.

It contained no aliens, as this tube was the only one broken.

“It’s broken?” Alavenya looked confused. “This doesn’t seem to look good, right?”

“Yeah.” Nathan nodded with a grim expression. “I don’t understand what this means, but looking at how other tubes are not broken while this one is broken… the alien inside it…”

Nathan looked down, muttering inwardly, ‘Well, although I have been trying to consider this world as my real world, I admit that the story’s tropes are still pretty reliable.

‘If the alien is still alive, it should be the one who destroyed things around here. But the problem is that this facility is quite well kept. The first and second floors didn’t seem to have been harmed, so that leaves only one possibility…’

“What is this?” Alavenya raised her hand, using her own ena to carry a black-colored skin from inside the tube.

“!!!” Nathan gasped. “Is that… Don’t tell me… The research is actually successful? The black cell has been fully separated from this alien?”

“Ah!” Alavenya stepped back while examining the black skin to see whether it was alive or not. Considering the black cell was a different entity, it should be checked whether it was still alive or not.

Fortunately, it didn’t seem to be moving.

“What should we do with this?” Alavenya asked. “It’s dead, or maybe it’s just a part of the alien’s skin.”

Nathan had a smug smile while rolling his eyes. “Of course. We incinerate it. Take it out and have Jinwu incinerate it.”

“Are you sure? Shouldn’t we bring this back and do something about it?” Alavenya was quite unsure. She believed the value of this black skin far surpassed what they could imagine.

But Nathan screamed inwardly, ‘Yes. Why do you want to bring it back? If we’re following the pattern here, this black cell will suddenly revive itself when we don’t notice, and it’ll start growing or even control the people around it and cause a massive disaster… or that was what happened in numerous stories. Do you think I’m fool enough to create another trouble?’

Of course, Nathan couldn’t say it that way. He could only sigh and nod his head. “Yeah. We will destroy it. If the research is completed, we just have to recreate the research to get another sample like that, no?”

“That’s true. Alright. Let’s get—”

Before she finished her words, a loud explosion occurred in the opposite direction of the building. From the direction alone, it looked like the explosion came from Selena’s side.

“Ah, shit.” Nathan clicked his tongue.
