Chapter 2072: I have a way.
“The current you is… running towards your own end.”
Nux declared with a cold look on his face. It looked like he was looking at a living corpse, and the Herald of Justice did not like that expression one bit.
“…what did you say?”
He questioned as he narrowed his eyes threateningly.
Yes, Aurendor’s Lord Justice was losing his patience. If this continued, Vexarion knew that the fact that Nux represented the Leander Family and that Aurendor needed their help would no longer matter to him.
He would mark this bastard and get rid of him even if it was the last thing he did.
To not incur his wrath, Nux needed to be very careful with his next words.
But…
“I said that the current you is running towards your end.”
Nux repeated himself without an inch of fear in his eyes, and before Vexarion could react to his words and lose his temper,
“Do not think your eyes scare me, Vexarion. I am not one of the subordinates who follow you. Your presence does not mean anything to me.
Not to mention that if you do not get your act together, you will no longer have the luxury to try and find me.”
Vexarion’s face turned solemn at those words. Nux, on the other hand, raised two fingers.
“Two days.”
He began.
“These two days Sharnoth gave you are all you have, Vexarion. Once these two days pass and you decide to hide behind your Faction instead of coming out and facing Sharnoth yourself,
It will be over.
Other High Level Worlds will take this chance and deliver the Heir to Chaos to the Supreme Worlds.”
“!!!”
Vexarion’s eyes widened in surprise as he heard those words. An expression that Nux did not miss,
“What? You did not believe that this news was only known to you, did you?”
He questioned.
“Luxmire, Dawnspire, Radiance, Sunder—these so-called allies of yours have already contacted me, and all of them know about Sharnoth’s origin.
And these are the worlds that only I know about. I can confidently say there are more. Even the worlds from the Eternity or the Balance Faction are keeping an eye on this situation. It wouldn’t be surprising if even the Worlds from the Darkness Faction, Khaemorr’s so-called allies, make a move as well.
The power Sharnoth used against the Leander Family was something most of the High Level Worlds recognized, and none of them plan to let this opportunity go.
The only reason they haven’t made a move is because of Khaemorr’s ongoing war with Aurendor, but the moment you back down from the Death Battle she proposed, you will give enough reason for them to take what belonged to you, and no matter who takes this chance away from you,
You, as the one who gave it away, would become a target in the eyes of the rest. Worlds from the Faction of Darkness might even target you then and there by taking in Khaemorr after Sharnoth’s disappearance and continuing their war.
You will be surrounded, your allies will shun and isolate you, your trade contracts with other Worlds will be annulled, and it wouldn’t be long before you are swallowed.”
Nux explained with a cold look on his face, and every word he said shuddered Vexarion’s very being.
Not just Vexarion—Ythric, the usually calmer one, was frozen as well. The rest of the subordinates had trembled in fear. In their minds, they had already started making plans for their own survival.
And clearly, their plans did not involve being loyal to Vexarion.
Nux, on the other hand, turned towards Ythric and,
“Do you still think I would gain profit by making a deal with you?”
Ythric’s body trembled at that question. For a moment, he stayed silent, but the very fact that Nux was still here told him that there was still a reason for it. Ythric took a while and started thinking, then,
“…what do you need?”
He questioned directly—a question that surprised not just Nux but even Vexarion.
“You say all that, yet you still remain here, talking to us. There must be something in your mind, no? A possible way out, a solution, or maybe something else, no?”
He asked, and for a moment, Vexarion shook his head. What could a mere mercenary possibly offer when even he was out of options? He believed that Ythric was trying to hold off the weak straws in desperation and fear of drowning.
But then,
“My price isn’t cheap.”
Nux grinned, instantly attracting Vexarion’s attention.
“You have a way out?”
Ythric questioned. It was a long shot—even he did not think it would work.
“As I said, my price is not cheap.”
“Price does not matter. What plan do you have?”
“Accept the Death Match, kill or capture Sharnoth alive, and offer her to the Supreme World of Light in return for rewards.”
Nux answered confidently, and in an instant, Vexarion lost all hope. Ythric too was visibly disappointed.
“If accepting the Death Match was an option, there wouldn’t have been all this discussion. As I mentioned before, Khaemorr cannot be trusted. This is all a tra—”
Ythric tried to deny it by giving the same reason again, but,
“Cut the bullshit.”
Nux interrupted, slightly annoyed.
“…?”
Ythric was momentarily taken aback, and Nux continued,
“The real reason you do not wish to accept the death match is because you are afraid of facing Sharnoth.”
“That is not—”
“There is no point in lying to me. As I said, unlike you people, I did my research. I know everything about you and your Lord Justice. I know how you fight, I know how strong you are, and I know how you avoid direct confrontation.”
“No—”
“I am not condemning you. Your method may be cowardly, but cowards are the ones who live the longest, and in this Universe, that is all that matters.
I actually like cowards and their cautious approach, and since I am taking the risk of making a deal with you, I obviously do not want you to perish in the battle.”
Nux spoke as he leaned forward, and a demonic grin appeared on his face,
“I have a way.”
He spoke,
“A sure-shot way to win and put an end to the arrogant Sharnoth once and for all.”
