…
‘How can I let this happen…?’
Mira unconsciously took a step back.
Just the struggle of doing that, almost as if her body was turning to stone, reminded her further that she had fallen to Rex’s ploy. ‘When did he take the Silent Spore out? Where did he even hide it? He wore nothing, nothing! I should’ve seen it if he brought something!’
She couldn’t believe that she got herself into this situation.
But once again, as Rex said, she underestimated him.
Had she listened to her gut, that there was something odd, she should’ve retreated first.
Instead of doing that, she attacked Rex and even attempted to inflict pain on him once she realized that he was not stronger than her. This situation was her own failure—there was nobody to blame other than herself.
Now, her vision of Rex changed dramatically.
For once throughout this entire battle, Mira felt something crippling inside her—fear.
Rex’s severe wounds were already completely healed—he was faking exhaustion to make her act more daring than she normally would. And as she thought of that, her eyes naturally fell to the branded mark on her wrist.
If everything has gone according to Rex’s plan, then she doesn’t want to know what this mark meant.
She doesn’t know what Rex’s endgame would be.
And frankly, she was afraid to know.
“Don’t be afraid…” Rex said hauntingly—his form was now shrouded by the Black Rift, turning him into a menacing shadow with two ruby eyes. In this realm, he couldn’t sense bleak aura, but he was far too accustomed to inflicting fear that his senses could sense fear naturally, “I’m not going to kill you. I also wouldn’t torture you. I have a plan for you. I… need you.”
<Notice: Please feed the target more blood to trigger the transformation!>
As soon as that notification appeared, Rex began to walk forward, calm and steady.
“St-Stay away from me!” Mira stuttered.
She lifted her hand and channeled her life energy, firing more wind crescents desperately.
Unlike earlier, these crescents were a lot slower, and Rex could easily dodge them as he picked up the pace. Once he grabbed her hand forcefully, he quickly bit into his wrist, creating an open wound, and shoved it against her mouth.
Mira was horrified—the fact that she didn’t know what Rex was doing made her more afraid.
In retaliation, she controlled her battle fan with her mind and commanded it to attack Rex.
Slash!
Rex grunted when the battle flan slapped his face—its sharp raven feathers cutting his cheek, and before he could react, it spun around and struck him hard again. He was hurled several steps backward, but a smile crept to his lips when he realized the hit was light.
It wasn’t as hard as before.
Recovering from his daze, he wiped the bloodstain on his lips and gazed ahead.
Then, he caught the battle fan that was trying to attack him again.
Clutching it tightly, he slammed it into the ground and began pummelling it.
Naturally, the battle fan was a Soul Artifact—formed from pure life energy.
In theory, Rex could shatter it with enough force, but as he struck again and again, he quickly realized it was far more resilient than expected. So instead, he began channeling his life energy into it, weaving in the power of Law to break through its defenses.
Using one of his Soul Artifacts wasn’t enough, so he used two.
Once he did, the battle fan began to tremble, and eventually, it shattered into pieces.
Rex didn’t idle or celebrate once he did that, instead, he raised his gaze and found Mira was running.
Almost instantly, he chased after her, sending the golden halo ahead and slamming it right in front of Mira, barring her way. She tried to push through, but Rex already reached her, grabbed her hand, and shoved his bleeding wrist into her mouth again.
“A bit more now, and you’ll feel the change…” Rex whispered with a maniacal glint.
Hearing this, Mira bit his hand hard.
Rex grunted in pain, but he didn’t pull his hand away, letting Mira bite as hard as she could.
As long as she was forced to drink his blood, being bitten was nothing.
“Just what are you trying to do?!” She let go and screamed. “Let me go!”
Desperately, Mira kicked him on the stomach hard, pushing him away as she tried catching her breath.
Not even three seconds later, Rex was already back onto her.
“I’m going to change you into someone like me,” Rex whispered savagely. “A monster.”
This time, Mira summoned a sudden torrent of wind from beneath, the violent burst slicing through and severing Rex’s arm completely. She moved to do the same to his other arm, getting rid of them so that she would be saved from being forced to drink his blood.
But she couldn’t.
Her eyes widened in surprise as she felt her control over life energy slip from her grasp.
It dispersed every time she tried to gather it.
<Notice: Mira is ready to be transformed. Does the user want to proceed?>
“Not yet!” Rex laughed—blood mixed with saliva spilling from his mouth. “I’ll feed her a little more!”
Knowing that Mira was already losing control of her abilities due to his blood inside her, Rex made a bold move. He lunged forward, reached out his other hand, and clamped it around her face. Cracking a smile, exposing his blood-stained teeth, he tightened his grip and tore her low jaw in one brutal rip.
Splash!
Mira wailed in pain.
Losing control of her life energy meant she had no chance in a physical battle.
Realizing what Rex did, she wanted to scream.
Anyone who tried to do this to someone respectable like her would be punished by death.
But out here, in the middle of the Black Rift with nobody around, her status didn’t mean anything.
Law of the jungle.
Only the strong could survive, and there will be no mercy under any circumstances.
Upon losing her lower jaw, there was nothing blocking Rex from forcefully feeding her his blood.
And unlike Rex, she couldn’t regenerate.
Making use of this opportune moment to its fullest, Rex quickly focused his regeneration on his severed arm. Once his arm was healed, he cut his hand again and shoved it into her mouth, forcing blood to go down her throat in big gulps.
Both of them crashed onto the ground, with Rex sitting on top of her.
Mira wailed, her legs flailed, and her back arched, trying to push Rex away, but it was for nothing.
She couldn’t break free.
In her condition, she couldn’t contest Rex’s strength and got pinned down helplessly.
Utilizing his martial arts expertise, Rex swiftly crossed his right leg over her body, pinning her down better with his weight against her while locking her right arm beneath his other leg—leaving her with only one free arm to resist, a struggle that proved utterly futile.
Mira was forced to gulp down the blood as her body gradually began to heat up.
In a few seconds, a notification finally appeared.
<Notice: Mira’s blood limit is almost reached!>
Once that notification appeared, Rex pulled away and stood back up again.
Freed from him, Mira crawled backward, looking at Rex in horror.
She tried to run away again, but it was already far too late for her to go anywhere.
“System, start the transformation.”
Deg!
As soon as Rex uttered the command, Mira’s eyes widened when she heard her heart thumping hard in her eardrums. Then, her body gradually stiffened as she crawled away, until she came to a halt. Mira panted heavily, feeling something changing inside of her.
“What have you done to me?!” She shouted breathlessly.
But to Rex, it was only a wet rasp, half a hiss, half a choke—completely inhuman.
Even then, he knew what she meant.
Rex approached her with steady steps.
“I’m changing you into my kind,” He said calmly as he circled Mira and stood in front of her. “You’re going to become stronger, a lot stronger. Like me, you’re going to have exceptional strength and even develop unbelievable regeneration. You will be born anew, better, and stronger than you ever were.”
Slowly, Rex squatted down to meet her gaze.
“Of course,” He smiled. “The price is that you become a monster.”
Upon hearing this, Mira’s expression turned pale.
When Rex said monster, her mind immediately went straight to the Voidal Monster.
A mindless and grotesque creature of the abyss.
“Oh, no, no, no, not like them,” Rex shook his head, knowing what she was thinking. “You’ll see.”
Crack!
“Raaarggkh!!”
Mira unleashed a high-pitched scream when her first bone cracked, her spine, the first part that would be changed to become a Werewolf. It began to elongate, curled more at the top, stretching her muscles and tendons to the point of ripping them.
Tears welled up in, but the fire of determination didn’t die out.
Crack!
As another bone-cracking sound echoed, Rex frowned as her spine shortened again.
It was the first time he saw this.
System, what is happening? Why isn’t she transforming?
<Notice: Mira is still strongly reluctant to give in to the transformation, and with her current strength being above the user, she could resist the transformation. It’s advised to make sure she accepted the gift or forbade her from focusing.>
Upon reading this, Rex nodded.
Just like he anticipated, turning someone stronger into a Werewolf would have more complications.
“Am I a monster?” Rex asked, pointing at himself.
Mira glanced at him and nodded with conviction.
Her lower jaw was still
“No, I didn’t mean it like that,” Rex massaged his forehead. “I mean, do I look like a monster?”
As he looked down, he realized that he was still in his Werewolf form—he slapped his forehead as he couldn’t believe he forgot about that. Swiftly, he reverted to his Human form. It was a change that caught Mira completely by surprise.
She didn’t know Rex had another form.
Initially, she thought he was a Demon Spirit, but it didn’t seem to be the case now.
“I don’t, do I?” Rex smiled, catching the shift in Mira’s expression to one of acceptance. “I look normal, and you could too, but with all the additional power that I have. Tempting, isn’t it? And don’t worry, you don’t have to change who you are. You could stay exactly the same.”
Rex paused for a second, allowing his words to sink in.
Back in the Mortal Realm, many people would want to be turned into a Werewolf by him.
A special Werewolf that has two forms.
But here, he needed to sell it.
Rex couldn’t believe that he was convincing someone to be turned like this.
Regardless, power is still the ultimate bargaining chip.
It doesn’t matter whether he was in the Mortal Realm or the Spirit realm; the strong would always rule and be respected, so power is always an enticing factor. Having such an enhancement does not come often, and Mira certainly knew that this was once in a lifetime opportunity.
For a second there, despite the pain, she contemplated.
She kept staring at Rex while resisting the transformation, seemingly waiting for him to say more.
Naturally, it was too good to be true.
Gaining that much additional power would always come at a cost, and Mira was waiting for the cost.
“Smart…” Rex grinned cheekily. “Of course, there’s a cost. You would be under me, but don’t worry, I promise I won’t ask you to do something that you’re heavily against. Like I said earlier, I did this to the Arcalen House because they imprisoned me. I’m not a bad person at heart.”
Rex gave a moment for Mira to think.
Then, he took out a healing vial from his inventory and fed it to Mira.
“Here,” He poured it down her throat. “Let’s heal your jaw and hear what you have to say.”
In a moment, the vial worked wonderfully, healing Mira’s lower jaw.
Once she was healed, Rex stared directly into her eyes again, “So? What do you say?”
