The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1587 - 1587: New Voidal Monarch

Somewhere in the Eastern Region of the Haeltara Empire.

Deep within the Black Rift’s expanse.

Grunts of command resounded, the sound of people that roared like a battle cry.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of soldiers could be seen gathering within the rush of the black wind, holding onto their weapons and shields with worry and fear on their faces. Passing them by behind, knights on a horse shouted with fervor, keeping them in line.

In the darkness of the black rift, only their voices could reach far, not their vision.

All of these soldiers were separated into two long lines that stretched for miles, facing one another across the open ground. Shields were locked in front of them, forming towering walls of metal and barely kept disciplined on either side—creating a long, narrow path between them.

A corridor of armored bodies and silent tension.

It was as if they were forging a road not of stone, but of men.

“Be strong! Don’t move a muscle! Or your bubbles are going to be the sacrifice!”

“Line! Keep it straight!”

“Plant your shields! Let the blessing flow through you!”

Each one of the knights riding a horse was keeping the people under them strong and in line.

Judging from the three-tailed sun crest on their chest plate, their origin was clear.

House Solvain—long been governed by its formidable patriarch, Marquess Darius.

Levitating above them, two figures in lavish robes could be seen.

Seekers.

Both of them have their eyes closed, focusing their powers to clear the black wind around them.

Slowly, the open space became clearer, and the soldiers could see each other again.

Under their collective effort, they were able to create a massive bubble that pushed the black wind away, easily reaching three miles in radius. Some of the soldiers weren’t reached by the Seekers’ powers, but that was expected.

On the edges were the stronger soldiers, proper soldiers, not militia like the ones at the center.

For their current task, they needed numbers.

So, they recruited part-time civilian fighters from around twenty bubbles under House Solvain and put them here to help. It doesn’t matter whether they were skilled in fighting or not. The most important thing right now is for them to stand their ground, regardless of what they heard and saw.

A few minutes later, the time came for them to do what they were here for.

It didn’t come instantly, but gradually.

First, the militias at the center near the Seekers looked down at their boots.

All of them could feel the ground was shaking—the vibrations steadily growing stronger by the second.

Then, the sound of fighting followed.

Explosions along—with flashes of multi-colored lights, could be seen outside of the Seekers’ bubble, a fierce battle that was approaching them. And as it got closer, the sound of people screaming in pain and horror reverberated through the air.

Some militias exchanged a look, not knowing what to expect to come out.

Just then, the Seekers began to channel their life energy.

Starting from the soldier at the far right of the formation, power surged through him, causing his shield to glow as a translucent yellow energy that rose from its surface, extending the shield upward, expanding its coverage.

Then, the life energy moved to the soldier beside him.

Then to the next, and then to the next.

In under a minute, all soldiers had their shields enhanced as the ground shook harder and harder.

“Get ready!!”

One of the knights shouted as he stood on his horse.

In fact, all knights stood on their horses, drawing their weapons as if preparing to fight.

“Huaarkh!!”

Several soldiers at the very edge of the Seeker’s power gasped as a figure, clad like a knight, clearly as strong as a Master Immortal Spirit, staggered in from the outside. Blood dripped down his armor as he took a couple of backsteps with an arm missing.

Eventually, he collapsed heavily onto the path.

For a moment, he let out shallow coughs, forcing more blood out from his lips.

Until finally, with a broken death, he went still.

Seeing this, the soldiers began to waver as a powerful Master Immortal Spirit died as if he were nothing.

But before any of them could react, the source appeared.

Hiss!!

Out of nowhere, a massive black dragon serpent burst into view, its maw gaping wide to reveal two big fangs—each the size of three people stacked together—already slicked with blood and venom. It coiled with terrifying speed, its scaled body twisting violently, as it tore down the road, slamming against the shield walls with bone-rattling force.

Its aura pressed heavily upon them, bending the space around, creating a stain in reality.

Even with the Seekers’ power, the soldiers were harmed by its presence.

Some felt their lungs collapse from a single bump from its body, and others were crushed entirely.

Only a few Voidal Monsters could do such damage.

And this dragon serpent is no doubt one of the few, a Voidal Prince.

“Hold your ground!!”

As soon as the dragon serpent appeared, the knights sprang into action.

Each one of them flew and followed the dragon serpent, striking it with lethal force every time it strayed from the road prepared. This dragon serpent is incredibly strong, known as the Unkillable Titan, but it fortunately didn’t possess a high level of intelligence.

It was only as smart as an animal.

Given enough pain stimulus, it would follow the road without question.

Any animal, even when they were stronger and could kill a man, would want to avoid pain.

And this dragon serpent wasn’t an exception.

Earlier today, Marquess Darius sent a decree to the Sunveil Fortress to handle this dragon serpent that has been crossing the empire’s territory recklessly. It was unclear what it was doing, but the rumor stated that it was working for a new Voidal Monarch.

Currently, the empire acknowledges two Voidal Monarchs within its borders.

Both were handled and had territories of their own, one that the empire had already learned and respected.

Voidal Monarchs are incredibly powerful, but they were inherently lazy, barely moved once they settled on their territory unless provoked, mainly resorting to using their underlings to fight. So, with the wind of a new Voidal Monarch appearing, the empire has already prepared a place for it to settle.

A secluded swamp that was far away from any bubbles.

For several days now, this operation has been going, to help the dragon serpent find a suitable place.

And now, the operation has neared its conclusion.

Only a few dozen more miles until the serpent reached the swamp.

Right now, the gathered Seekers, knights, and soldiers were tasked to keep the dragon serpent on track.

One of the leading knights tightened his grip on his battle axe and summoned his Spirit Genesis, causing the weapon to triple in size in an instant. Drawing on his Echo, he coated the blade’s edge in a glowing yellow sheen before swinging it in a wide arc, cleaving toward the serpent’s writhing body as it bumped against the buckling shield walls.

Clang!

Instead of pushing the scaled body, his battle axe vibrated sharply with a resounding clang.

His arms were bruised from the vibration.

Striking the dragon serpent hurts him more.

But even then, that strike was potent enough to force the dragon serpent to follow the road.

“Tch!” The knight clicked his tongue and pushed himself to fly faster, trailing the dragon serpent closely. “Five strikes and I’m already running out of life energy. It’ll be no time until I can’t hit it with enough force. At most, I can cough out one more. After that, I’m spent.”

Glancing at his comrades, he also noticed them being in the same boat as him.

Other than him, twenty-four other knights are all exhausted.

Fortunately, their part is going to end.

Just one more mile until the dragon serpent reached an abandoned terrain.

“Hmm…?”

As he followed the dragon serpent, he noticed a bulge right above its head.

Initially, he thought nothing of it, but now, he could clearly tell that the bulge was growing.

“A horn…?”

From the way it jutted out at the center of the dragon serpent’s head, he assumed that it was a horn, but he scraped that when he saw a black, shadowy construct appear when the skin broke.

It swayed for a moment as its body swelled bigger.

A few seconds later, the shadowy construct stopped at around eight feet in height.

Drawn to it, the knight was tempted to strike it.

Since this Voidal Prince was a new one, they had little to no knowledge about it, so he was also tasked to find out more about it. And this shadowy construct—it could be a weak spot that emerged from over-exertion by the dragon snake itself.

Just as he was about to approach, however, a white, oval-shaped object emerged from its inside.

One that the knight recognized to be a mask, a reptilian mask.

His breath was caught in his throat when a pair of glowing red orbs appeared behind the mask.

To be exact, they appeared right behind the mask’s eye sockets.

And those two orbs suddenly snapped at the knight, sending a chill to run down his spine.

“Holy shit, it’s the Voidal Mona-!”

Crash!!

Before anyone could react, the dragon serpent suddenly made a sharp turn, colliding head-on with the shield wall and bursting through as if the collective might of thousands of people were nothing. All who stood in its way were crushed under the pressure.

Hundreds died from the dragon serpent breaking through the shield wall, bodies exploding into mists.

“Stop it!!”

“No, that’s a bad direction!!”

Seeing where it was heading, the knights were horrified.

If the dragon serpent continued onward, it would collide with another bubble.

Not a small place either, a big one, a bubble known for its marketplace that could hose millions daily.

Other than millions of lives at risk, that place was also an anchor to the empire’s economy, and having that destroyed would be catastrophic. Knowing the implications, all the knights chased after the dragon serpent and intercepted it.

Twenty remaining knights stood in a formation.

At the very front, the leading knight was someone at the Master Eternal Spirit rank.

He summoned his Soul Artifact, a fierce-looking mask marred with fangs.

“Spirit Genesis: Fear Mask!”

Crack!

As soon as he chanted those words, the ground underneath him cracked, creating a huge crater—as if there was a meteor landing there. Then, crimson tendrils burst from his back, latching onto the nineteen other knights and draining their life energy in ravenous gulps.

Each one of them gave their life energy willingly, enhancing the leading knight’s Spirit Genesis.

His Soul Artifact responded at once, manifesting a massive projection of the mask that swelled in size.

It swelled with terrifying speed, growing until it rivalled the serpent’s colossal form.

Once he was ready, the mask hummed with a rippling aura that expanded outward like a violent wave.

An aura of pure intimidation that could stir the primal instinct to flee in anyone staring at it.

Seeing such a massive projection appearing out of nowhere, combined with its oppressive, intimidating aura, was enough to make even the mighty dragon serpent hesitate—its frenzied charge faltering under the weight of instinctive fear.

For the bleeding, battered knights, that hesitation was hope.

A fragile chance bought at the edge of their lives.

However, their world tilted when the Voidal Monarch stepped forward.

Everyone halted their breaths, but determination still burned in their eyes.

Losing here would mean the death of millions, and that is infinitely more important than themselves.

In the next second, though… all hope was lost.

The Voidal Monarch extended his hand and tapped at something invisible with his index finger.

But it was then, reality cracked like glass.

And with a wave of his hand, that crack shot towards the remaining knights.

Splash!

Before the knights could do anything, the crack slammed into them hard.

And like the crack, their bodies began cracking like glass, and before they knew it, they also shattered like one.
