Chapter 1444 The Weight Of Love

Chapter 1444 The Weight Of Love

Asking the loaded question, Seed’s voice was slow, almost languid like a cat so was toying with its prey, and although this question seemed almost meaningless to this Old One, there seemed to be something more behind his voice, however, it did not matter, Rowan would not be falling for the same trap twice, and he would rather focus on what was important to him than all of these unnecessary game of power.

Rowan looked at Seed and smiled, “Why should I be concerned about something that never happened, that would be like a mortal trying to catch the wind. My maid is a fourth-dimensional immortal standing beside a powerful Old One like Elura, which alone shows my mother’s magnanimity and her desire to welcome me into her fold; why should I slap away a welcoming hand? If the price that she needed to pay to be here in the presence of great powers was to bleed, then I would be a fool to block her from gaining the opportunity to understand how reality truly works, for the weak are nothing before the strong.”

“Oh, that’s interesting,” Seed muttered, “I always considered the fact that you being a Breaker would teach you a different perspective about reality, but your words are certainly, interesting”

Rowan felt a growing sense of dread but he did not understand where it was coming from, yet he knew that he needed to change the direction of whatever this conversation was heading, and he thought about what Seed had said for a moment. before he replied,

“No, they are not,” Rowan countered, “it’s wasteful and a bit insulting to consider my mental state to be this fragile when there is an attempt to use the bond between me and Maeve to trigger a reaction from me, I have grown in my time away from you both, and whatever test you or my mother want to set before me, you can do better than this, or soon I will be the one who is disappointed in you both. I don’t require such a test, I would rather be taught about the higher dimensions, that is what is important to me.”

Seed scratched his head as if he was a bit ashamed, and then he folded his arms and looked deeply at his grandson,

“Do not look down on this test, Rowan; it is far more important than you might think. Maybe not for others, but for special immortals like you, who were born as mortals and so have to make several decisions that would lead you to your destiny. At the lower levels of immortality, before you fully take on the Destiny of your bloodline, I consider that there are two types of immortals. The first is the one that is guided by their heart, and the second is guided by their head. As you grow stronger, you shall come across crossroads in your path, and each time you pick a specific choice, your Destiny becomes that much solidified; and when you have picked enough paths forward and made enough choices, then you are fixed on your path, and you can no longer change. I do not say which is better than the other, but I think by now you should understand the right path, however, even till this moment, I doubt you have fully made your decision.”

Rowan frowned, “Then this test, it was to find out if I was the sort of immortal that is being guided by my heart or my head. However, this sort of thing is useless; I have seen through it at a glance; I know what I want to be, and something like this is not needed.”

Seed stroked his jaws, “Yes, I know that you had seen through it at a glance, it means that this level of testing is useless to you, for someone so young, you possess a cunning that is far greater than your years. When I and your mother met you a thousand years ago on the Frozen Road, you were a cold block of ice, your heart was dead and your soul if you had one, was fucking empty, and yet you played the game well, you saw Elura and you felt rage, but that rage was strange for it was cold yet feigned itself to be hot. The test. I made to understand you had failed…”

There was something about Seed’s voice that made a strange chill begin to crawl along Rowan’s spine and he had no time to begin analyzing what was changing since Seed was still speaking,

“But. I am not one to easily give up and so I made another test for you, Elura resurrected what was left of the shade that she had cast into your tiny universe and was the one who birthed you, the woman you truly consider to be your mother, then I saw you cry, I saw your heart, yet it still felt empty, almost ephemeral, and I wanted to know more, because how can I make you worthy of the burden you are about to bear if you don’t know yourself? You were an enigma wrapped in a mystery, and I knew if I wanted to know the truth and if my test was to be valid, I needed to push…. Because like your mother, you are worth the sacrifice, and I believe that you can shine even brighter than she ever could.”

“Seed, please, don’t.”Rowan did not know why he said this, but there was a mounting feeling of rage and pain that was stirring his Origin Bloodline into a storm that was being held back by his titanic Will, but even that boundary was beginning to crack because in his horror he could almost see the path that Seed was about to use in his attempt to “educate” him.

It was not many times that he had been caught flat-footed, and everyone that had managed to deceive him in the past had been something that he had partly anticipated, even though he did not trust Seed, Rowan had been looking at the threat from him from another direction, which in his experience were usually from greed, fear, anger, and other negative sources when the he revealed more of his talent, he had never considered in a twisted way that Seed may have been pushed by another sort of motivation, and this was love, but his love was something that was intensely toxic.

For him to accomplish what Seed deemed to be his full potential, this old man would break him.

Instincts born from an innumerable number of battles flooded his senses and Rowan’s body blurred forward, but he had not even moved a millimeter before he was frozen in place, dense green runes burst out of his shoulders and wrist, holding him down and he could not move his eyes, the same spot that Seed had touched him in the past seemingly without thought had turned out to be his shackles.

These green runes traveled all over his body seeking something and they found it, and without any delay, they pounced, and Rowan’s existence became pain, and even in the depths of his anguish, he would have sworn that he saw tears pouring out of the eyes of Seed, and when the old man spoke next, his voice was shaking as if he was holding back intense emotions.

“How much do you restrain yourself Romion, ah, it’s Rowan now, your Will is quite strange, the way it seems to impose some certain truth on reality, but I have given you the space to find yourself, but you are still holding back something, I can feel it, and it’s dulling your light!”

Around Rowan, a single golden circle bloomed, it was his Supreme Circle, meant to keep him sacred and inviolable, the power of the Circle was about to erupt, but this was the target of the runes that held Rowan bound, they leaped unto the Supreme Circle and a fierce shockwave blasted from Rowan’s body that was so powerful it would have shattered this entire world and even the arm of the statue holding it up, but Seed dismissively slapped it aside and he seized Rowan by the back of his neck like a child, making sure his vision was focused on what he wanted to show him,

“I am old Romion, one of the first Old Ones to ever walk across creation, and the things I have seen are beyond what your mind can yet comprehend, I have seen the light that had shone so bright that even after the endless years had passed they are still burned into my memories and they are blinding, I cannot forget them, and in you, I see the potential of that same light, but it is uncertain… leashed, there is something holding you back from your true potential, and if you could break reality when you are still flawed, if all of creation is trembling before your deeds, what can you achieve if you are perfected? How can I sit back and watch you restrain your glory? Never!”
