Villain Ch 956. Hand to Hand

Red_King gritted his teeth, his pride wounded by the necessity of relying on Sophia. “This isn’t over,” he muttered under his breath, clutching his sword tightly. His knuckles were white from the strain, but he had to swallow his pride.

Mastercraft was dead, and even though Father^Alex was still with him, his mana was critically low. The Mana Potion he had just consumed couldn’t restore his reserves completely in such a short time, and mana regeneration would be difficult in the middle of a battle this intense. So yes, he had no choice but to rely on Sophia’s skills.

At worst, he might be forced to protect her since the only healers left were Father^Alex, Sophia, and one inexperienced new healer.

Sophia saw Red_King’s annoyance and the advanced enemies closing in. Deciding to add a bit of strength to the mix, she extended her hand toward him, her eyes locking onto his. “Agility, Holy Blessing, Protection,” she chanted, her voice calm and resolute.

A series of buffs enveloped Red_King. The enhancements were powerful and immediate.

[Your Speed has increased by 120%]

[Your Defense has increased by 150%]

[Your Accuracy, Magic Power, and Strength have increased by 100%].

Red_King felt a surge of energy course through his body, his senses sharpening, and his strength amplifying. He turned to Sophia, his face full of confusion and unspoken questions. “Why would you waste these buffs on me?” his expression seemed to say.

“You are the strongest knight here. The only tank we can rely on,” she said in a stern voice. It was not a suggestion but an order.

Red_King didn’t like it, but he knew Sophia was right. He was the only one left who could hold the line. “Right,” he said with an unamused smile, his lips twitching into a brief, sardonic grin. He turned back to face the advancing enemies, his mind set on the battle ahead.

Shea and Zoe were charging toward them, their expressions filled with malicious intent. Red_King steadied himself, his grip on his sword tightening. “Stronghold,” he intoned, activating his buff skill.

[Your Endurance has increased by 50%].

He could feel his resolve hardening, his body readying for the fight. The weight of his armor seemed to lighten, and his breath steadied.

He focused his gaze on Zoe, knowing that the Kraken Queen was the more troublesome foe. Her Tsunami skill had caused significant damage before, and they couldn’t afford another onslaught like that. Red_King braced himself and activated his Cyclone Strike.

“HAAA!” he roared. The sound of his armored boots pounding against the stone floor echoed through the hall as he charged. His Cyclone Strike was a blur of motion, his sword swinging in wide, deadly arcs. His movement was precise and powerful, cutting through the air with lethal intent. His muscles burned with exertion, but the adrenaline coursing through his veins kept him moving forward.

Zoe saw him coming, grinning in anticipation. “Nice appetizer!” she declared, her voice filled with excitement and mockery. She activated her skill, “Hardened,” and her tentacles transformed, becoming as hard as steel. The tentacles writhed and twisted, ready to meet Red_King’s attack head-on.

Red_King’s Cyclone Strike met Zoe’s hardened tentacles with a resounding clash. The sound of metal against metal rang through the hall, sharp and piercing. Their movements were a blur of speed and power, but the gap in their skills was clear. While Zoe looked calm and confident, her lips curled in a mocking smirk, Red_King was struggling to keep up.

Sweat beaded on his forehead, and his muscles strained with each swing of his sword.

– Clang!

“Is that all you’ve got, knight?” Zoe taunted, her voice dripping with disdain. She parried his strikes effortlessly, her tentacles moving with a fluidity that belied their hardened state. Each clash sent vibrations through Red_King’s arms, his grip on his sword slipping slightly with each impact.

Red_King gritted his teeth, pushing through the pain and fatigue. He couldn’t afford to let Zoe overwhelm him. The thought of not even being able to defeat a subordinate like Zoe gnawed at his pride. How could he hope to defeat Allen if he couldn’t handle her? With a roar, he doubled his efforts, his sword cutting through the air with renewed determination.

The wind generated by his Cyclone Strike whipped around him, creating a vortex of motion and sound.

But Zoe was relentless. She met each of his attacks with a counter of her own, her tentacles moving in a deadly dance. The floor beneath them cracked and splintered from the force of their battle, debris flying in all directions.

“You’re getting tired,” Zoe observed, her smirk widening. “Why don’t you just give up?”

“Never,” Red_King spat, his voice hoarse with effort. He swung his sword in a wide arc, aiming to break through her defenses. His arms ached, and his vision blurred from the exertion. But Zoe was too fast. She deflected the blow with ease, her tentacles wrapping around his sword and wrenching it from his grasp.

Red_King stumbled back, his eyes widening in shock and horror. He was disarmed, his primary means of defense taken from him. Panic surged through him, but he quickly fought it down. He couldn’t afford to show weakness now. Zoe’s mocking laughter filled the air, a sound that grated on his nerves and fueled his determination.

“Looks like you’re all out of tricks,” she sneered, advancing on him. Her eyes gleamed with sadistic delight, savoring his helplessness.

Red_King’s mind raced. He couldn’t rely on his sword, but he wasn’t completely defenseless. He channeled his remaining strength into his fists, his body tensing as he prepared for hand-to-hand combat. The odds were against him, but he couldn’t afford to give up now.

Zoe’s tentacles lashed out, aiming to ensnare him. Red_King ducked and weaved, his movements fueled by desperation. He dodged one tentacle, then another, each near miss sending a shiver of adrenaline through him. He could feel the wind from their movements, each one a reminder of how close he was to being caught.

“You’ve got spirit,” Zoe admitted, her tone almost appreciative. “But it’s not enough.”
