Chapter 1394: Section 1395 Special Soul
It was precisely because the White Light Bullet of the Samsara Overture had such a mechanism that Angel had always believed the initial test subject had long since dissipated due to internal energy disorder and imbalance.
But now, Isabel suddenly told him that not only had this undead not dissipated, but it had also become the source of chaos in Black Castle?!
How could this be? What exactly happened?
“Was her appearance caused by you?” Isabella, who had been somewhat subdued, suddenly raised an eyebrow and looked at Angel with a cold gaze.
Angel glanced at Isabella, “To be precise, her identity is the thirteenth daughter of King Gumman, who, due to the loss of the Crimson Authority, was framed and reduced to slavery, and in the midst of turmoil, was ultimately sold to Black Castle.”
“Her appearance wasn’t my doing, for I personally witnessed her heart being pierced by the scythe of the Bloodbath Pool in Black Castle. Her heart’s blood dripped into the pool to become… your bathwater.”
“The moment she died, she turned into an undead.”
Angel simply recounted the sequence of events, but he omitted several important details.
The thirteenth daughter of King Gumman certainly died while he was bearing witness. However, the reason she became an undead at the moment of her death was that Angel had granted her wish just before she died, protecting her physical body from falling while allowing her to accumulate a great deal of resentment.
The reason why Angel knew her identity was because, when her resentment had reached its peak, she revealed it to him out of gratitude.
In other words, she became a revengeful undead, and from a certain angle, Angel was actually the creator.
After listening to Angel’s account, Kimberly furrowed her brow.
Angel hadn’t lied, which meant, in the end, it was still Black Castle that had caused her death. No wonder she was filled with resentment toward Black Castle.
But Kimberly also had her doubts, “If the cause of this matter lies entirely with us, then what role did you play in all this?”
If Angel was merely a bystander, why did Isabel make a point of mentioning him?
Angel remained silent for a moment before placing the Samsara Overture in the palm of his hand.
“I’m sure you’re not unfamiliar with this alchemical device, Lady Isabel?” he said.
Kimberly noticed that as the strange firearm emerged, a flash of discomfort crossed Isabel’s face.
“Hmm.” Isabel nodded calmly.
“This gun is called the Samsara Overture, and it is also the weapon you wish to borrow for a time. It serves two purposes. The first is to kill undead,” Angel didn’t bring up the matter of Isabel previously taking half of the Mysterious Spirit at that moment, simply hinting lightly, to instill a sense of guilt in Isabel, thus achieving his aim.
“The second, also involves killing the undead, but the method is different,” Angel pointed to the image of King Gumman’s thirteenth daughter in the illusion, “it purifies negative energy within the undead. The reason she appears as a Semi-Undead is that she was hit by this gun, clearing a part of the negative energy within her.”
“However, purifying negative energy would only cause an imbalance in an undead’s internal energy, eventually leading to dissipation.” Kimberly frowned, “Yet, she did not dissipate.”
“That’s what I am curious about too,” Angel shrugged, “Her condition also falls outside my expectations.”
Kimberly recalled that when Angel had seen the illusion of the woman not long before, he indeed had an extremely surprised expression. Connecting it to his mumblings at the time, it seemed Angel had not lied.
But he was definitely hiding something.
Kimberly couldn’t help but turn back to Isabel, hoping to hear her opinion.
Isabel quietly looked at the Samsara Overture in Angel’s palm before finally speaking, “The true function of this Samsara Overture is actually to purify the negative energy of the undead, ultimately turning them back into souls, right?”
Though Isabel’s tone seemed to be questioning, it was confident.
The implication of her words shocked both Kimberly and Isabella! Once souls degrade into the undead, reversal was thought impossible; this was a common understanding in the Wizards’ Realm, but Isabel was saying the Samsara Overture could turn the impossible into possible, breaking a rule of the Wizards’ Realm?
“Is this true?” Kimberly looked at Angel in astonishment.
Angel had originally intended to keep the true effect of the Samsara Overture a secret, but unexpectedly, Isabel had seen through its reality.
Angel looked at Sanders, who nodded slightly to him.
Now that the truth was exposed, he could only reveal the actual situation.
Angel nodded, “It seems that I cannot hide anything from Lady Isabel.”
Angel had admitted it!
Kimberly had not expected that she would hear a Wizards’ Realm convention shattered here, under these circumstances, at this moment!
Even though she wasn’t a wizard specializing in souls, she felt astonished.
“However, the conclusion I reached isn’t a lie either.” Angel paused, then revealed the true effect of the Samsara Overture, “The magazine of the Samsara Overture contains six bullets in total. Each bullet can disperse a part of the negative energy within an undead. One must methodically shoot all six bullets at the same undead in order to entirely purge the negative energy within, allowing the undead to revert back to a normal soul.”
“Through the certification of experiments, it became clear that missing even a single shot would ultimately lead to the subject’s demise due to energy imbalance,”
“The thirteenth daughter of King Gumman, I only hit her with one shot. Therefore, in my view, she couldn’t possibly still be alive. Thus, I was surprised when I saw her,”
After Angel finished speaking, Isabella coldly said, “Ultimately, the way she is now is still your doing.”
Angel retorted, “Are you saying that if she hadn’t become like this, she wouldn’t have sought vengeance on Black Castle?”
“Undead do not possess complete logical thinking, and it was your ‘Samsara Overture’ that restored part of her spirit intelligence, leading to the events that have unfolded. Don’t you think you’re responsible?”
Angel sneered, “Assuming she really did regain part of her Spirit Intelligence, then who is the object of her vengeance?”
As the argument was on the verge of escalating, Isabel interjected in time, “Enough, Isabella.”
To her, Angel was certainly related to the matter, but he was not the primary link; the true fault lay with the ‘Crimson Authority’ plan that Isabel had executed over the past millennium.
That was what transformed Black Castle into what it was now.
But these were words that Isabel could not express in front of outsiders. She simply conveyed her dissatisfaction to Isabella with a look.
“Mentor…” Isabella’s expression still held traces of indignation, but she eventually nodded: “I understand.”
Isabella may be arrogant and rude to everyone else, but when faced with her beloved mentor, she dared not misbehave.
“Regardless of who’s right or wrong, her appearance is indeed somewhat related to you. Perhaps you should agree to help Isabella, after all, clearing these undead should be to your benefit as well,” Isabel said, looking back at Angel with an implied meaning in her words.
Angel could tell that Isabel had figured out that the White Light Bullets needed to be gathered by killing undead.
Indeed, when Angel had used the ‘Samsara Overture’ to slaughter the undead in Black Castle, Isabel must have noticed. With a little more deduction, she would have arrived at the truth.
Angel fell silent, and Isabel did not hurry him, simply sitting on the sofa, silently watching Angel.
Not just Isabel, but Kimberly and Isabella also fixed their gaze on Angel. Their thoughts might have been different, but their final actions were the same.
Sanders leisurely lifted his teacup to drink. He hadn’t expected the situation to become so complicated, with the focus eventually falling on Angel.
The silence lingered for a long time, and when the steam from the teacup was almost gone, Angel finally spoke:
“I really want to know, what exactly did she do that caused such a catastrophe to befall Black Castle?”
King Gumman’s thirteenth daughter indeed harbored the greatest hatred for Black Castle before her death, but she hadn’t been an undead for long; surely she hadn’t become powerful enough in such a short time to influence Black Castle to such a degree?
“Have you ever heard of a ‘Special Soul’?” Isabel asked instead of answering.
“Special Soul? Are you referring to a soul with special abilities?” If that was the answer, not only had Angel seen it, but he himself actually counted as one.
“You could say that,” Isabel nodded, “There are many reasons for the formation of Special Souls. Some inherit abilities from their living days, some were ordinary in life but activated certain abilities after death, and others become Special Souls through external forces.”
“And she, in fact, is a Special Soul who developed a particular ability after death.”
Angel: “What ability?”
“What can be confirmed so far is control over undead and the ability to hide.”
Isabel briefly described the events that had befallen Black Castle, which was, in essence, a simple tale of an undead’s revenge.
She harbored deep resentment against Black Castle, and so she launched an attack on it by manipulating a vast number of undead.
To ‘control undead’ refers not just to manipulating them, but also granting them abilities, and even activating some of their energy for kamikaze-style attacks.
There were simply too many undead in Black Castle; without targeted Purification abilities, they were exceedingly difficult to eliminate.
Moreover, Official Wizards, who are mostly capable of purifying undead, had to be urgently recalled from their various stations to Black Castle for this reason.
Yet, even after more than half a year, there was still no success, and the main body of Black Castle had even been occupied by the undead.
In such a predicament, they had an idea: since they couldn’t kill all the undead, they might as well take action against the prime culprit.
Then they discovered that they couldn’t find where the culprit was hiding at all.
Even Isabel couldn’t find the culprit’s location. That was when they deduced the thirteenth daughter of King Gumman’s second ability – to hide.
At this point, Angel became somewhat puzzled: “If you can’t find her location, how do you know what she looks like?”
