With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods
Chapter 1119 - 1119: Threatening an adventurerOver the next few days, there wasn’t much that happened with Lin Fan.
After all, it wasn’t as if there was much to do in the royal guards.
The royal guards might have been the last line of defense for the royal family and namely the emperor, but it wasn’t as if there was that much danger in the first place.
The Kalos Empire was one of the strongest empires on the continent, so there were very few people that dared to make a move against them in the first place. But at the same time, everyone recognized that the emperor was nothing more than a puppet at this point.
They knew that Emperor Kalos was just there on the throne to create the semblance of unity.
What was really happening was the vicious infighting between the six factions that controlled the kingdom.
So that was why no one really wanted to move against Emperor Kalos.
There was simply no value in doing anything to him.
In fact, taking down Emperor Kalos would actually result in fiercer infighting in the Kalos Empire and that would cause trouble for the surrounding nations. So they wanted this deadlock to last as long as possible.
Well, all except one nation, but that nation also didn’t plan anything against Emperor Kalos.
That nation was even sending someone to protect him.
All because they wanted to make use of him for later.
So even though Lin Fan joined the royal guards, there wasn’t actually anything that he had to do other than go to training every day. Only this training wasn’t the normal kind of training that one would expect.
This was training in name, it was actually just wasting time.
It was hard to imagine that the royal guards actually did anything…
That was until something suddenly came up.
“Follow me into the city.” The regiment commander suddenly said this when Lin Fan came to the morning assembly.
Lin Fan was confused why the regiment commander would say something like this, but he followed him in the end. After all, the best way to find out what was happening was to go along with it.
As they went, Lin Fan started to doubt whether this was a special trip or not.
After all, Lin Fan recognized the path that they were taking.
This was the way to the red light district that he visited a few nights ago.
Was the regiment commander taking him to a place like this in the middle of the day?
Was this really what the royal guards were all about?
But in the end, that wasn’t the case as they headed off in a different direction before reaching the red light district. It seemed that they were just heading in a similar direction, they weren’t actually going there.
The place that they went to in the end was the Adventurer’s Guild.
As for why the Adventurer’s Guild was built in a place like this, it was all because no one really trusted the adventurers. Even if adventurers had power that could be considered useful, they weren’t on anyone’s side.
Or at least that was for the most part.
There were some that were trusted by nobles, but that was because they were high ranking adventurers that worked with them.
The low ranking ones were different since they were adventurers that just did whatever they wanted. There was no one restraining them and there was no one that wanted them.
As such, it was dangerous to keep these adventurers in an important part of the capital.
Just in case they ever wanted to start a coup or something.
When they came to the Adventurer’s Guild, Lin Fan couldn’t help asking, “Sir, what are we doing here? Are we looking for some adventurers to take care of something for us?”
The regiment commander didn’t answer this question right away.
Instead, it seemed like he was looking at him as if he was deciding whether to tell him or not.
But in the end, the regiment commander said, “This isn’t something that you need to concern yourself with right now. I’ll tell you when the time comes. I only brought you with me today because I wanted to give you some experience for the future and introduce you to a few people. After all, in the future, you might be the one taking care of this for his majesty.”
Though the regiment commander said ‘his majesty’, Lin Fan knew that he wasn’t referring to Emperor Kalos.
The regiment commander who was a part of the southern duke’s faction, there was only one person that he would refer to as ‘his majesty’. That was naturally the southern duke who they wanted to take the throne.
So it was the six factions making their move.
Well, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan didn’t already expect something like this.
But he was still curious about what they were planning to do.
When they arrived at the Adventurer’s Guild, they found that there was quite the commotion that was happening. It seemed like there was some kind of party or some kind of celebration happening at this Adventurer’s Guild.
The regiment commander just continued forward while Lin Fan looked around to see what the commotion was.
But before entering, the regiment commander suddenly stopped.
Lin Fan looked in the direction that the regiment commander was looking in and he saw that there were people that he recognized standing there.
They were other regiment commanders from the royal guards.
It seemed that they had also come here to the Adventurer’s Guild this morning. And if Lin Fan had to guess, they were most likely here for the same reason as the regiment commander he followed.
Once they saw each other, they didn’t actually say anything to one another.
That was because these regiment commanders were backed by different factions.
So even if they didn’t have a bad relationship, it wasn’t as if they could talk to each other that easily. They had to at least pretend that they couldn’t stand each other since it would be bad if someone reported that they were close.
They would lose their backers after all.
But the other regiment commanders didn’t have anything against Lin Fan. In fact, they all happily greeted him when they saw that he was here.
The factions behind them wanted to take Lin Fan in as well, so of course they would treat him kindly. If they could scoop him out from under the regiment commander that he currently followed, there was no doubt that they would receive better treatment.
However, this didn’t last long as they were more interested in what was inside of the Adventurer’s Guild.
They had all the time in the world to win over Lin Fan, but it was different for the ones that were in the Adventurer’s Guild.
“To the S Rank party!”
From this, Lin Fan figured out what was happening.
S Rank Adventurers, they were at the very top of the food chain when it came to adventurers.
Some of them were even strong enough to fight those that were considered pillars of their kingdoms. Some of them had reached the peak of their path as well.
Though that was very rare.
Still, a S Rank Adventurer party was no doubt something that the six factions cared about a lot.
Lin Fan understood why these regiment commanders were here.
It would be easier to approach the S Rank Adventurers for a matter that was related to work rather than to approach them to poach them away from the Adventurer’s Guild. They had to at least listen if this matter was related to a job.
But it wasn’t as if this was something that Lin Fan had to care about.
He wasn’t going to help if it just made the six factions stronger.
Once they were in the Adventurer’s Guild, they lost interest in him since he wasn’t comparable to the S Rank Adventurers.
While Lin Fan was free, he planned on scoping out the adventurers here to see what level they were to see if they would fit in his plan.
But then Lin Fan noticed something familiar.
When he looked in the direction of that familiar feeling, there was a faint smile that appeared on his face.
That was because this was the direction that the S Rank Adventurers were standing in.
And that feeling that came from them was the same feeling that he had when he encountered dungeon cores.
That meant that this group was most likely related to some dungeon core.
Though Lin Fan had no idea who it was.
While everyone was distracted, Lin Fan searched the dungeon core forum to see who it was and soon he found it.
It wasn’t hard to find since there was only one dungeon core that actually did something like this, which made him quite famous and easy to find information on from the dungeon core forum.
Once he found this information, Lin Fan thought about what to do.
This dungeon core might compromise his matters in this Glory City, so it wasn’t as if he could just leave the dungeon core alone.
At the same time, the dungeon core was a rare encounter in the first place, so it wasn’t as if he wanted to let this dungeon core go that easily.
In that case, there was only one thing that he could do…
“Dungeon Core 563, it seems like you’re having quite a bit of fun playing as an adventurer. But you shouldn’t forget what you should really be doing.”
When it came down to it, he threatened him.
