Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1063: A Great Loss

Devastation loomed over everyone’s minds as they came to the realization of what had occurred. The Golden Globe, the very item they had fought so hard for, the one that had caused so much bloodshed, had disappeared just like that.

Snatched away at the last second. It was safe to say that everyone’s blood was boiling at what had happened. The real question was: who could they blame? Was it Raze for being careless at the last moment?

They couldn’t blame him. They were able to survive because of him. No one there could have done more and they were sure the person who would be most devastated over what had happened was Raze himself.

Currently, the group was slowly trekking through the jungle, heading back to where they had arrived from—where Lince and Zon had forced a ship to escort them to the island.

As they walked, Beatrix couldn’t help but speak up in her frustration.

"Can’t we go after him? He should still be on the island or somewhere here, right? I know where the ship with the Light Faction is; maybe we can head there!"

Beatrix wasn’t so sure the ship would still be there because she was sure Impress would have opted to leave the island as soon as possible, but she still imagined the man from Alter might have run off there.

"It’s pointless." Raze answered. "That man had planned this; he’ll be long gone, and with his powers, it would be impossible to catch up to him."

The others understood the gist of what had occurred, but it wasn’t from Raze himself. Instead, they had a clearer understanding from Zon, who noticed the item’s disappearance. Zon suspected it had to be some type of magic at work.

With all of them having experienced more magic on this trip, they knew it was a strange power that none of them clearly understood, apart from Raze, that is.

"But we can’t just give up. Now that Alter has the item, who knows what they will do?" Beatrix said. She couldn’t just let Ricar’s sacrifice go to waste like that. Why did he have to die? Why did all of the Light Faction members have to die?

How could such scum come in at the last moment after not going through the trials and take the item? It was making her hair quickly turn gray with how much she was thinking about it.

"They will have the same trouble as all of us would if we had the item." Raze answered. "Even Alter, with all their men, won’t know how to fully use it. I’m sure Bofan would have thought that far."

"It gives us some time, but not a lot of it. I assure you, I’m not giving up."

As Raze walked, he was thinking about everything that needed to be done—the power of Alter, the power of the Light Faction. He had been so close; it had been in his hands and was snatched away. He couldn’t let them get away with it.

While traveling through the jungle, the group hadn’t come across any beasts. Lince and Zon noticed a few of them staring curiously their way, but the curiosity quickly faded as they rushed off into the distance.

Lince had his theories as to why this was. Even though Raze wasn’t emitting any type of Qi or mana, his presence alone was scaring the beasts off. They knew better than anyone right now: this was not the right situation to anger him further.

Finally, they reached the very edge and could see the white sandy beaches up ahead. The sound of bickering and talking continued from the front. Stepping out first were Lince and Zon.

"This isn’t good news." Lince claimed. "Although, I did somewhat expect this."

The sight in front of them was a sunken ship. The crew they had politely asked to help bring them ashore to the island had been unable to protect it from the attacks by the wild monkeys.

Originally, there was a small amount of damage to the ship—enough to perhaps fix up—but somehow, more of it had been damaged, and now most of the ship was just in pieces, floating about.

"Sir, we greatly apologize for this!" three men shouted as they rushed over. One with unkempt, unruly hair and an eyepatch on his right side. Another, a large man, keen to show his muscles, and a skinny figure to the far left.

"We tried our best to look after the ship, and then it turned out like this! We’re just so glad you’re back; please, we have to get off this island! It’s crazy, the beasts are crazy!" one of the men stated.

"Right, this island is cursed. There was even a man running across the water. We can’t deal with it anymore. You got what you wanted, right? We can head back now, right?"

"What should we do? Do you have an option for us to get back?"

"Get back? That’s going to be pretty hard with no ship," Lince replied.

Just then, shifting out from the back were two more individuals: Beatrix and Raze. Continue your journey on empire

The men immediately fell back as they pointed at Raze with shaking fingers.

"That’s him! That’s the man… the running water man!"

Lince and Zon turned to look at him and could only imagine what they meant by that.

"Oh, should we add that to the list of names given to you?" Lince asked. "And I would be careful pointing at that man. He’s not in the best of moods as it is."

Looking at the situation, if they waited a while, maybe Raze could do something with his Wind magic or Ice magic to help them get back. But that was somewhat tiring, and he didn’t want to waste his magic. He needed to recover as much as possible.

"Captain! Captain!" One of the men shouted from further ashore. He was looking out with his telescope.

"We’re saved! It’s a miracle! Another ship is heading our way!" the man shouted.

As the others looked off into the distance, they recognized who it was, and for a moment, the great anger that clouded Raze seemed to somewhat subside.

"They’re safe. That’s good to see."

Beatrix took a glance at Raze, and she wasn’t so sure about what she had seen. She wondered if she might have even imagined it.

’Was that a smile I saw? Who are these people to him?’
