Dual Cultivation God Returns

Chapter 784 784: Their lips (***) met once again

Liang Yuhan’s peaceful and rhythmic breathing changed pace, and then she took a deep breath, a smile appearing on her face as she felt the comfortable embrace of her man.

Her eyes opened to look at him in the bright light of this new day.

“So that’s what you and Mingyu were so secretive about the past few days”, he chuckled.

“…? Ah… you noticed after all, and here we thought we were being discreet…”, she first was surprised, and then smiled as recognition appeared in her green eyes, turning a bit in his arms to lie on her back so that she could place her hand on her stomach, and listen to the new sensation, “So this is what it feels like… to be connected with a bond…”

“Mm”, he nodded, “Though there is a certain surprise as well…”

“Hm?”, she raised her eyebrow, and then widened her eyes as she examined this new feeling, “This…?”

“Yes, it is the fourth layer of the Dual Extremes Infinite Union Art… the Union of Life”, he said, as he was examining this latest advance long before she woke up, adding, “It seems your problem was resolved all on its own”

With the fourth layer of the technique, a new bond formed between their Roots of Longevity. As far as Wu Long could tell, their lifespans were now permanently connected, ensuring the same lifespan for all of them regardless of individual differences in cultivation, bloodlines, or physiques.

Every Root of of Longevity was mutually nurtured by the others, as they all formed a tight bond.

In a sense, this was a very meaningful and to an extent even symbolic bond of Dual Cultivation, as those practicing this path advanced together hand-in-hand, relying on each other.

She grew emotional, snuggling closer to him as she hugged him tight, which he answered by tightening his embrace as well.

They spent quite a long time simply laying in bed, enjoying their time, talking and whispering sweet nothings to each other.

“So, do you now recognize the importance of my enlightenment?”, at one point, Wu Long turned a playful gaze to her.

Her cheeks became rosy as the scenes from last night flashed before her eyes, “Alright, alright, it is a very important achievement”

“That’s right”, Wu Long nodded with satisfaction, a smug smile on his face at her recognition.

She rolled her eyes at this childish behavior, but at the same time, couldn’t deny that she enjoyed the fruits of that achievement… very much.

But then, as her eyes fell onto a bottle of medicinal pills laying on the floor beside the table, she asked “Is it really possible for you to not be affected by my poison at all?”

“With Chaos Refining Body Tempering Art, it is beneficial instead. In general though, I know how to deal with almost any poison that is related to Harmonic Qi. Thus, even if I could be poisoned by other means in my past life, I could never be poisoned during Dual Cultivation”, he smiled, astonishing her with the second bit.

Her shock then turned into a wry smile, “Sometimes, I forget you are ‘that’ God of Pleasure… truly, someone who knows everything there is to know about Dual Cultivation would hardly not know how to deal with poisonous Yin Qi”

“Heh, you give me too much credit. I know a lot, quite possibly more than anyone in the Seven Boundless Worlds about Dual Cultivation, but I am certain I don’t know everything”, he smiled, and then added “In truth, on this particular theme it’s not even my achievement, strictly speaking. I got lucky in an ancient ruin, before I knew much about Dual Cultivation at all”

Her eyes filled with curiosity, as he spoke about his past.

“I obtained an ancient Dual Cultivation technique there… though it can be hardly called a real Dual Cultivation technique…”, a chuckle escaped his lips as he made a face saying ‘this is going to sound silly’.

He then continued, “You see, there are diseases of Harmonic Root that could be transmitted while Dual Cultivating… in the Modern Era, all of them are treatable thanks to knowledge from the various periods of Ancient Era, for some I created a treatment method myself, and all others were solved by the practitioners of the Alchemy Dao long before I came along”

She nodded as a matter of fact, since it was widely known to be one of Wu Long’s achievements to have eliminated the last few of those that were deemed non-treatable, slightly confused why he was bringing it up, and at the same time slowly realizing it.

“Well, it seems in one of the Ancient Era periods, most of those diseases were deadly, and they did not know a cure for them, thus, an unknown Dual Cultivator – no doubt a prodigy of their time – came up with a technique that protected the user from harmful elements within the partner’s Harmonic Qi… the unexpected result was that the protection included poisons, toxins and venom in addition to the diseases they targeted…”, as he explained, Liang Yuhan’s smile grew.

“Well, that technique was largely obsolete by the time I obtained it, since only a handful of those illnesses were still without treatment, and there were other ways people protected themselves, so it was really only useful in case the partner’s Yin Qi was poisonous, which is extremely rare, or if someone was trying to assassinate me with poison infused into Yin Qi”, as Wu Long finished, Liang Yuhan shook her head with a smile, while his face read as ‘see? it was silly right?’

“And on the notion of knowing more than others, there’s still an infinite amount of possibilities, he then added, and then continued with a mischievous look, “For example, didn’t you see me try something new just yesterday?”

“Wu Long!”, she bashfully exclaimed, turning away as he laughed and hugged her from behind.

There was, however, a subtle hint of confusion deep within his eyes, as he was thinking over the fact that he unlocked the fourth layer of the Dual Extremes Infinite Union Art during cultivation with her the night before.

Previously, this only happened when he cultivated this technique with Ye Ling and Wu Mengqi. And given that the two had a certain common trait, he inwardly made a silent observation, but didn’t give it much thought.

Now, however, there was a third case, and it fell into two possible scenarios.

On one hand, the pattern he noticed before could be incorrect, and there was some other factor that influenced it, which was entirely possible, since he made an observation based only on two cases, where the commonality between the two could be a coincidence.

Not to mention, that there were 9 layers of the technique, and aside from the first layer he comprehended even before, there had to be 8 partners to unlock the other layers, whereas aside from Ye Ling and Wu Mengqi, there were only two other women he lost.

On the other hand, however…

His gaze shifted to the back of the gorgeous woman in his arms.

‘It can’t be… though… I did think it was a crazy coincidence when her ancestry and condition matched… but it’s not like I never saw crazy coincidences. I saw so many it barely registers as surprising anymore… besides, aside from that one connection…’, he thought as he never thought he would doubt his ability to recognize a woman he loved.

She did not look or behave like Lin Aihua, the woman who first introduced him to the proper art of Dual Cultivation in his past life, a Sect Master of a small Dual Cultivation Sect in the Boundless Profound World, back when Dual Cultivation was an almost dying out path.

Lin Aihua’s behavior was also mature and seductive, but had a different feel to it. Whereas Liang Yuhan’s charm was something she trained on purpose, Lin Aihua’s charm felt more natural.

‘But then again, I was much younger back then… and a lot more inexperienced…’, a counter thought popped into his mind. He was well aware that his memories were influenced by his perception at the time, as his worldview dictated how he remembered things.

It was the woman that Liang Yuhan did not want to remind him of to not raise painful memories, thus concealing her similar condition of a lifespan limited by bloodline ancestry.

‘They are similar in that as well… since Aihua never told me either… until it was too late…’, he thought.

And, perhaps more importantly, he only knew Lin Aihua much later in her life, close to the end of her lifespan, whereas Liang Yuhan still had a bit less than 8 000 more years if her lifespan was still limited by her bloodline.

He also had to admit the embarrassing fact, that he knew next to nothing about Lin Aihua’s past before he met her, only that he was her first and only man.

He shook off this line of thought, as he didn’t know what to think of it.

At this moment, he wanted to concentrate on Liang Yuhan.

A bit earlier, as his thoughts wandered for just a minute, Liang Yuhan was also confused, as she seemed to have some sort of a dream the night before, a dream that she could not remember, but one that left an indescribable impression on her. She could not shake off a feeling of missing something important. Eventually, she too shook off the thought, wishing to concentrate on here and now, turning in his arms to face him, and closing her eyes as their lips met once again.
