Chapter 905: 904 The world, you are the best to me

Chapter 905: 904 The world, you are the best to me

“Mo Xiuchen, when you had amnesia before, I refrained from hitting you because I was afraid Ranran would be heartbroken. If you’re looking for a beating now, fine, tomorrow, let’s settle it on the school grounds,” Zhou Lin spoke, his face suggesting that losing wouldn’t leave him feeling dishonored, which challenged Mo Xiuchen.

Without hesitating, he nodded in agreement: “Fine, let’s fight. I could use a chance to stretch my muscles anyway.”

“Why do you guys act like kids, always ready to fight at the drop of a hat?” Wen Ran furrowed her brows tightly as she looked at them. She didn’t know who usually won, but right now, with Mo Xiuchen’s arm injured, he definitely couldn’t beat her brother, right?

Mo Xiuchen gave Wen Ran a reassuring smile, then slowly remarked, “For the sake of fairness, why don’t you injure one of your arms first before we compare?”

“Pfft—”

Wen Ran, who was frowning just a second ago, couldn’t help but burst into laughter upon hearing Mo Xiuchen’s words.

A look of pain crossed Gu Kai’s face as he watched Wen Ran: “Ranran, I was just feeling sorry for you, and here you are turning your elbow out, siding with Mo Xiuchen, this scheming guy. What does your laughter mean? Do you actually want me to injure my arm and compete with him?”

Wen Ran quickly stopped laughing, shaking her head like a rattle drum, “Brother, I didn’t mean to laugh. It’s late; you should hurry home and rest. Mo Xiuchen, let’s go home too.”

“Let’s go, let’s go,” Gu Kai waved goodbye to them, grumbling in frustration, “The way of the world—once a woman gets a husband, her brother doesn’t matter anymore.”

Mo Xiuchen laughed heartily, cheerfully pulling Wen Ran along, jabbing further: “With me, Ranran essentially has the whole world. If you know what’s best, hurry up and find a woman to marry to save Ranran the trouble of worrying about you every day. Ranran, let’s go.”

After saying this, Mo Xiuchen walked away, holding Wen Ran’s hand. As they reached the door, he didn’t forget to turn back and warn Gu Kai, who was following behind, “Ah Kai, Ranran and I don’t need a third wheel; don’t follow us,”

“You just wait; one day, you’ll be begging me to speak kindly on your behalf,” Gu Kai gritted his teeth, frustrated with this unthankful guy who seemed even more overbearing since he regained his memory.

Once out of the hospital, Wen Ran looked back and saw that Gu Kai really hadn’t followed. She frowned slightly and said worriedly, “Mo Xiuchen, my brother hasn’t come out yet.”

His face beaming with a smile, Mo Xiuchen replied cheerily, “No worries, he can’t get lost.”

Wen Ran’s lips twitched slightly: “I’m not worried he’s gotten lost, but rather, I’m afraid he might hold a grudge and look for opportunities to make things difficult for you.”

“Haha, Ranran, you truly are my girl, indeed, no one in the world treats me as well as you do,” Mo Xiuchen laughed out loud, his long arms pulling Wen Ran tightly to his embrace.

Wen Ran also laughed, her eyes curving up as she gazed at his brightly smiling handsome face, feeling both joyful and touched. She was his Ranran, and of course, she wanted to make him happy.

She wasn’t actually worried at all as the friendship between her brother and Mo Xiuchen was as close as brothers. Their interactions involved just light teasing or minor ‘retaliations’ – she said so just to make Mo Xiuchen happy.

At the parking lot, Little Liu immediately opened the car door, respectfully waiting for them to get in. Mo Xiuchen glanced back at the hospital’s entrance, seeing Gu Kai’s handsome figure appearing at the doorway. He slightly curled his lips and said to Wen Ran, “Ranran, get in the car; Ah Kai is already out.”

Following his gaze, Wen Ran saw that Gu Kai and another doctor were walking toward the parking lot together. She smiled at Mo Xiuchen and bent down to get into the car.

“Little Liu, let’s go home,”

Once in the car, Mo Xiuchen wrapped Wen Ran into his embrace and ordered Little Liu.

Little Liu complied, started the car, and hit the road. Mo Xiuchen turned his face, watching Wen Ran with gentle eyes. Seeing her yawn wearily, he said affectionately, “Ranran, go ahead and sleep first, I’ll wake you when we get home.”

Wen Ran was truly exhausted.

She had already been on a nearly twenty-hour flight that day. On the plane, she had helped Zhou Lin take care of Tiantian. After landing, they had gone to the hospital. Once finally home and after taking a shower to sleep, she had been kept awake by the man next to her for nearly an hour and had to worry about his injury, rushing to the hospital…

Such back-and-forth had certainly worn her out.

At the hospital earlier, she had yawned several times and her eyes were sore and uncomfortable from crying. She agreed with a ‘okay,’ really closed her eyes, and resting her head on his shoulder, fell asleep within minutes.

Mo Xiuchen held her body with one arm, and his other injured hand gently held her small hand. His eyes, brimming with deep affection, never left her face. He kissed her forehead and told Little Liu, who was driving, “Little Liu, drive slower.”

“Yes, young master,”

Little Liu, glancing through the rear-view mirror at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran sitting in the back seat, slowed down, turning the usually swift Aston into a crawling turtle in the night.

It took almost twice the usual time to return to the suburban villa. During this time, the car was very quiet.

Mo Xiuchen gazed tenderly at the woman in his arms, rearranging his somewhat scrambled memories. His feelings fluctuated with the memories’ joys and sorrows, and his handsome, chiseled face showed a changing flux of emotions.

As the Aston drove into the villa, Little Liu got out of the car, opened the door for Mo Xiuchen, and asked with his eyes, quietly inquiring whether to wake Wen Ran or not.

Mo Xiuchen’s eyebrows knitted slightly. Reluctant to wake the sleeping Ranran, he knew she was exhausted from today, especially since he had been quite intense with her earlier. If it weren’t for her pleas, and his arm getting injured, he might not have known when to stop.

Especially when memories flooded like a tide, the excitement in Mo Xiuchen’s heart turned entirely into love for her.

He had been restraining himself for several months and could hardly control himself now…

“You should go rest now,” Mo Xiuchen whispered to Little Liu, signaling him to close the door; he would get out later.

Little Liu hesitated, seemed about to say something, but didn’t dare to speak and quietly closed the door and left.

In the garage, only Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran remained. To be precise, since Wen Ran was asleep, there was only Mo Xiuchen. He glanced at his injured arm; the wound had reopened earlier. If he carried Wen Ran upstairs, it would undoubtedly reopen.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t endure the pain, but he was afraid that Wen Ran would get angry and distressed when she woke up the next morning.

He weighed the pros and cons, and finally decided to just sit with her in the car, not feeling sleepy anyway. Even if he just watched her until dawn, he was willing.

Having lost his memory for several months, now that it had finally returned, whenever Ranran mentioned their past, he felt emotionally complex. Now that he remembered everything, he realized that his affection and compassion for her had increased exponentially.
