Global Beast Mastery: Only I Can See the Hints

Chapter 612 - 612: The Mysterious Serpent Beast Master

In the Serpent Empire’s grand library, Charles and Zara were reading Underground River Exploration Records.

Zara’s previous description had been accurate. According to the book’s records, the two paths at the fork they had previously reached led to very dangerous places.

One of these was the underground lake filled with cursed power, while the other led to the gathering place of the Sandworms.

“Sandworms are terrifying creatures. They eat anything. They usually live underground, but come out to move around when it rains or at night. The Serpents are all very afraid of Sandworms,” Zara quickly explained.

As she spoke, there was clear fear in her eyes.

“My parents were eaten by Sandworms. After becoming the Empress’s guard, I encountered them on the battlefield as well. These Sandworms are enormous, and they’re so elusive that it’s almost impossible to track them down.”

Zara’s words piqued Charles’s curiosity.

“Did you fight against the Sandworms? I thought the only enemy the Serpent Empire had was the Stellar Empire. Seems like you have quite a few enemies,” Charles remarked.

Zara’s mood darkened further upon hearing this.

She slowly nodded, her voice heavy with melancholy.

“You’re right. Our Serpent Empire faces many threats. After all, we have a glorious history. We once ruled the entire Atacama Desert. The intelligent races in the desert have all been our enemies at one point. Besides the Sandworms, the Desert Goblins have been in constant conflict with us.”

“Do you think the Desert Goblins could be allied with the Stellar Empire?” Charles asked.

“Yes! In fact, according to the intelligence we’ve gathered, many Desert Goblins have already started cooperating with the Stellar Empire. They’ve received a lot of weaponry support from them,” Zara replied.

From Zara’s description, it was clear that the Serpent Empire was surrounded by enemies on all sides.

Charles could feel the immense pressure the Serpent Empire was under through her words.

However, this wasn’t the most important issue for Charles.

He felt there was no point in dwelling on these matters anymore.

“Solving the issues you’ve mentioned seems incredibly difficult. Let’s focus our efforts on figuring out how to enter the underground lake filled with cursed power,” Charles said.

The two of them then resumed searching for ways to counter the curse within the library.

The wise men of the Serpent Empire had indeed thought of many methods to deal with the curse. However, most of the solutions they came up with had little success.

Some suggested using the Gem of Light found in the desert to dispel the curse, but the Gem of Light’s power to remove curses had a very limited range. Furthermore, when the curse’s power reached a certain strength, the Gem of Light’s ability to dispel it would completely vanish.

Others proposed using the light-based Beast Mastery possessed by the Beast Masters to fight the curse. However, the effectiveness of this approach was also very poor. Light-based Beast Mastery was inherently repelled by curses, as the light-based creatures instinctively avoided curses. Even if they were forced to resist the curse under the command of the Beast Master, the curse could only be weakened to some extent. A powerful curse could still not be completely countered.

After going through all the books related to countering curses, both Charles and Zara wore expressions of frustration.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Zara cautiously asked, “Do we really have to enter the cursed lake? Can we not search for clues somewhere else?”

In response to Zara’s question, Charles remained silent and did not give an immediate answer. He was just as conflicted.

The clue provided by the hidden hint pointed to an extremely dangerous area, but it was the only lead he had. If he abandoned this clue, where else could they look for information?

While he was thinking, mousie suddenly dashed out of the shadows. It ran straight toward the southeast corner of the grand library.

Charles was surprised by mousie’s sudden movement, but he quickly realized why mousie was acting this way. He saw a strange mystical beast.

This mystical beast seemed to have been lurking in the shadows, watching every move Charles and Zara made.

“There’s a Beast Master secretly watching us!” Charles quickly warned.

Zara was startled by this sudden revelation.

The two of them immediately followed mousie, racing after it.

The shadowy mystical beast quickly ran out of the grand library and then blended into the shadows at the back of the building.

“Mousie, don’t stop! Keep following it! Don’t let it escape!” Charles ordered decisively.

His command was firm, and mousie’s pursuit speed began to increase.

Both mystical beasts seemed to merge into the shadows at the back of the grand library at the same time.

Soon after, the shape of the shadows at the back of the library shifted violently.

Mousie was chasing and attacking the mysterious mystical beast in the shadows.

Charles and Zara, on the other hand, remained alert, watching the surroundings carefully.

Charles was well aware that the Beast Master controlling the mysterious mystical beast must be nearby.

At this moment, Zara felt that the situation in Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis was absolutely dire. The high priests were engaged in political scheming, the curse on the Empress had completely erupted, and the security situation within the oasis had fallen apart.

Suddenly, the sound of something cutting through the air reached their ears.

A poisoned arrow flew directly towards Charles.

In an instant, Charles drew his black gold long knife and the blade collided directly with the arrow.

Almost simultaneously, a bat-like mystical beast quickly swooped down from the sky, heading straight toward the shadows behind the grand library.

After neutralizing the attack from the mysterious Beast Master, Charles didn’t pursue the bat-like mystical beast that swiftly passed by. Instead, he ordered Max, Little Gold, and Mia to deal with the other mystical beasts, while he, armed with both his black gold long knife and Chasing the Moon Bow, dashed toward the direction where the mysterious Beast Master was located.

Charles moved with incredible speed, and by the time he had charged quite a distance, Zara hadn’t even reacted yet.

By the time Zara did react, the battle on both sides had escalated into a fierce confrontation.

In the shadows behind the Great Pyramid, Charles’s four mystical beasts worked together, successfully cornering the two strange mystical beasts into a tight spot.

However, these two peculiar mystical beasts were not easily defeated. Using their unique abilities, they managed to evade and counter the attacks from Charles’s mystical beasts.

As for Charles, he finally encountered the mysterious Beast Master.

The mysterious Beast Master was a Serpent, making this the first Serpent Beast Master Charles had encountered in the Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis.

Like Charles, the Serpent Beast Master was a Level 5 Beast Master. Therefore, the strength of their mystical beasts should be roughly comparable, and their battle skills were likely similar as well. This meant that Charles didn’t plan to quickly eliminate his opponent.

Charles only wanted to know why this Serpent Beast Master had appeared here and why he was attacking him.

“What exactly do you want? Are you a traitor of the Serpent Empire? Why are you attacking me?” Charles asked, throwing out three questions in a single breath.

He didn’t expect the Serpent Beast Master to answer all of them. His purpose was simply to disrupt his opponent.

The Serpent Beast Master did not respond.

Instead, he continued to summon various strange creatures with his Staff of Summoning, sending them to attack Charles.

Such attacks posed little threat to Charles.

The battle didn’t last long, and Charles quickly gained the upper hand.

“Stop trying to defeat me! My strength far exceeds yours! And your mystical beasts should already be defeated by mine! If you want to live, you better answer all of my questions.”

Arrows from the Chasing the Moon Bow continued to fly out.

These arrows surrounded the Serpent Beast Master in a tight circle.

The arrows from Chasing the Moon Bow themselves contained a certain amount of power. When these arrows came together, they formed a solid seal.

The Serpent Beast Master was directly trapped within it.

At the same time, the battle in the shadows behind the grand library came to an end.

Mousie successfully used the shadows to create a cage, trapping the two strange mystical beasts inside.

“You can’t escape anymore! I have plenty of time to interrogate you properly!”

Charles smiled as he looked at the Serpent Beast Master.

He believed that he could extract very important information from his opponent’s mouth. After all, a Level 5 Beast Master was still incredibly important to the Serpent Empire.

The Serpent People had very few Beast Masters to begin with, and for one of them to reach Level 5 was a significant achievement.

Just then, Zara finally caught up to Charles’s side.

“How’s the situation? Has the battle ended?”

Zara panted as she asked.

Charles smiled and nodded.

“The battle is over. In fact, you didn’t need to rush over here. I could have handled it alone.”

As soon as Charles finished speaking, the sound of a horn suddenly echoed from the distance.

Zara’s expression grew extremely serious.

“The horn means that Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis is under attack! Whenever the Serpent People hear the horn, they must gather at the outer wall of Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis.”

Zara quickly explained.

Charles was puzzled.

Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis was located right in the middle of the Serpent Empire’s territory. How could it easily be attacked?

Moreover, the timing of the horn’s sound was a bit too coincidental. Just as he had successfully sealed the mysterious Serpent Beast Master, the horn sounded.

“There must be a conspiracy behind this! We shouldn’t rush over immediately. Our priority now is to make sure this Serpent Beast Master doesn’t escape!”

As Charles said this, the Serpent Beast Master was glaring at him coldly with an intense, hateful look in his eyes.
