MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1397 - 1397: Clearing Prerequisites (1)With the task Arcane gave him still lingering in his mind, it went without saying that Valyr brought up the quests needed to evolve his class.
Ding!
‘Surely it wouldn’t be that hard, right?’ asked the young man to himself as the screen containing said quests popped up in front of him.
Briefly thinking about the prerequisite quests needed to evolve the other classes he had under his belt, Valyr felt that the quests needed to evolve Emissary of the Arcane would more or less be at a similar level of difficulty.
Though, once he laid his eyes upon it, the young man could only utter out a single sound.
“…”
“…Hm.”
————
Growth Quests (Emissary of the Arcane):
> Comprehend an Intent Seed related to mana (0/1)
> Comprehend an Intent Seed related to the Arcane concept (0/1)
> Comprehend at least 1% of the Arcane Language (0/1)
> Transform one’s mana to Lesser Arcana (0/1)
> Unleash [Basic Tenets of the Arcane] consecutively up to the 5th Tenet (0/1)
Rewards: Ascension of the Emissary of the Arcane class to Mythic+ grade, additional skills and other miscellaneous rewards
————
Although he was easily able to confirm that the quests he needed to complete were around the same level of difficulty, Valyr looked through these quests one by one with a pensive expression.
“It’s not too difficult…” murmured the young man to himself.
“But it’s definitely gonna take a while.”
Considering his current circumstances, he was confident that he’d be able to complete at least half of these quests within a week at most.
“The first two quests wouldn’t be too much of a problem, especially with my affinity towards the concepts improved thanks to Arcane.”
“The same could be said for the last one,” said Valyr, bringing up the skill’s description to his side. “After all, the only difficulty there is meeting the stat requirement needed to unlock it.”
Ding!
Seeing that he now had access to the 5th Tenet thanks to the massive stat boost he got, the young man faintly nodded in understanding as he shifted his attention towards the two remaining quests.
“Comprehend at least 1% of the Arcane Language…” As these words left his mouth, Valyr faintly scratched the back of his head.
Though he was given a method to consistently comprehend more and more of it with the help of [Basic Arcane Language Comprehension], he had a feeling that reaching 1% wouldn’t be as simple as just using the skill over and over again.
‘After all, even though I’ve been using the spells I made with [Arcane Codex] quite often, I’ve only been able to push my comprehension of the language to 0.008%’ he thought to himself, briefly checking with the system to confirm his claims.
‘As for transforming my mana into Lesser Arcana…’
Whoosh!
Focusing his attention on the scripture Arcane gave him, the young man went through the first 9 levels of the scripture as he closed his eyes.
“…Hm.” By the time he was done going through them, a mix of contemplation and relief appeared on his face, eventually settling into a slightly relieved smile the moment he opened his eyes.
“Although there are some differences here and there if I get into the specifics, the general process is still the purification process I’ve come to know,” said the young man, letting out a faint sigh of relief.
“Let’s just hope the scripture makes the process take way less time than it usually does.”
With that in mind, Valyr stood up as he decided to work on the simplest quest out of the five, which only needed him to unleash [Basic Tenets of the Arcane] up to the 5th Tenet.
“[1st Tenet: Point].”
Whoosh!
Extending his hand outward, the young man released a bit of his mana into the air, only to then force it to condense into a point.
“[2nd Tenet: Needle].”
Making use of the energy that was already infused in the point, he then proceeded to send out more of his mana, which caused the point to look more like a needle.
“[3rd Tenet: Bolt.]”
Feeling the power contained in the skill greatly increase after the 2nd Tenet, the young man looked on with curiosity as he infused more energy into it, giving the needle the opportunity to increase in both lethality and size.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Curious as to how the bolt formed by the skill would compare to a normal magic bolt of his, Valyr went ahead and swiftly conjured a bolt on the side, sending it straight towards the first tree he could see.
Bang!
Considering that his stats now rivaled that of a Rank 4 class holder, it was no surprise that the bolt he sent out caused the tree to explode. If anything, the bolt still seemed to have a lot of energy left in it.
Sending the slightly weakened bolt to the ground after that, Valyr watched the bolt form a small crater before shifting his gaze towards the bolt formed by the tenets.
“Your turn.”
Whoosh!
Sending the bolt towards a similar-sized tree, the young man felt that the outcome of the second tree would be similar to the first one.
However, contrary to his expectations…
Fwoop!
Rather than cause the tree to explode into splinters due to its contained might, the bolt instead bored a smooth hole through its trunk, briefly leaving Valyr at a loss for words from the sight.
Sensing that only a small portion of its energy had been consumed after piercing through the tree, a hint of excitement soon appeared on the young man’s face, prompting him to slam the bolt near where the first bolt was sent.
Bang!
Feeling a faint shockwave erupt the moment the bolt made contact with the ground, Valyr’s excitement immediately increased once he saw that the bolt formed through the tenets made a crater at least three times larger than the one he formed through normal means.
‘With enough time and practice, I could probably form bolts through [Basic Tenets of the Arcane] at the same speed it takes me to normally form bolts,’ thought the young man to himself, imagining the havoc he’d wreak if he were to become proficient at it.
‘…I’ll save that for a later time.’
Pushing the various what-if scenarios in his mind to the side for now, Valyr swiftly refocused his attention onto the task at hand, going through the first three tenets once more the moment they were off cooldown.
“[4th Tenet: Third Point].”
With the bolt recreated once more, Valyr proceeded to inject mana directly at the center of the bolt, causing it to bend and transform into something that looked more like a bent nail.
Though, as he infused a bit more energy into the construct, the extra energy contained within it soon burst to form another point onto the entire thing, causing it to look more like a three-pointed star.
“…Damn.” Beginning to feel a bit of danger from the three-pointed star he created, the young man decided to set his thoughts of testing its might to the side for the meantime, especially considering that he was only one step from completing the quest.
“Haah…” Taking in a deep breath to calm his nerves, Valyr doubled down his control over the three-pointed star before proceeding to activate the final tenet needed for the quest.
“[5th Tenet]…”
“[Star].”
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
With the 5th Tenet consuming far more energy than even the 3rd and 4th Tenet combined, Valyr watched with slightly widened eyes as the three-pointed star gradually took on a more three-dimensional shape.
Whoosh!
Then, feeling as if it had reached the limit of what it could contain, two more points burst out of the three-pointed star, solidifying to take on a similar shape to the other points before the entire construct began to shrink in size.
Ding!
Though his focus was still mostly on the star transforming before him, the young man inwardly cheered in joy once he got the notification that the quest was completed.
Double checking to see that he only needed to clear four more quests to evolve his class, Valyr’s attention soon returned to the transforming star, beginning to sense a greater sense of danger from it the more it shrunk.
Whoosh!
Fortunately, by the time the star shrunk to the size of his palm, the construct stopped shrinking, emanating a level of might that reminded him of the first time he cast [Orb of Apyrhan].
‘Pretty sure this is deadlier than the orb, though,’ said the young man to himself inwardly, wondering if he should check and see how much damage it would actually deal to his surroundings.
In the end, Valyr decided against it, letting out a slightly relieved sigh as he dispelled the star.
Fwoosh!
“Although it’s very tempting, I still have to remind myself I’m inside my guild’s territory,” muttered Valyr to himself, taking in a few deep breaths to regain composure.
“I don’t even know how I’d be able to explain the entire thing if I did it…”
“Nor do I want to think where’d I get the funds to repair the damages if I actually did.”
Slightly shuddering at the thought of the what-if that popped up in his mind, the young man soon sat cross-legged on the ground once more, closing his eyes in a bid to calm himself down even further.
‘Now that the easiest quest has been done, it’s time to move onto the next one.’
Letting out a long exhale to remove all the discordant thoughts in his mind, Valyr began to go through the scripture Arcane gave him, only for a random question to surface a few seconds later.
‘Now that I think about it…’
‘How much damage would I deal with the star if I were to go all out?’
‘…’
‘…’
‘…Better save that thought for a later time.’
