MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1485 - 1485: Myriad Prodigies: Upgrading the Armor (2)

“…”

Going over the senses Ataraxia shared with him in his mind, Valyr briefly looked back at the young man in slight disbelief before continuing to go over them.

Closing his eyes for a bit to get a better idea of what his other identity could see, he eventually let out a faint sigh before giving the young man a slight nod.

“Something similar to [Vision of the First Blacksmith]?” asked Valyr.

“Probably.” Ataraxia shrugged, placing the pauldrons back to where it was before. “However, I get the feeling that what the skill sees is different from yours.”

Recalling the first time he experienced the skill in person, Ataraxia was left bewildered when he found out that everything he looked at was now made up of various strands of multi-colored energy through his vision.

Though he did not understand what these strands meant at first, the young man gradually began to get an idea of what it was, thinking of the strands as some sort of glue that bound matter together in order for things to exist.

However, after noticing that these strands could be more commonly found in living creatures, his thoughts on what the strands represented gradually changed.

Although he still thought of it as a glue that bound matter together, he also thought of it as an agglomeration of energy of some sort, which might have something to do with the concept of the Arcane considering its origins.

In the end, he was still unsure as to what the strands truly represented, considering that the moment it unknowingly activated after his class evolution was the only time he had technically used the skill.

Nevertheless, that didn’t stop him from getting an idea to use it the moment Valyr shared his thoughts on the upgrade process with him, prompting him to test his hypothesis out on the pauldrons after that.

Seeing that it functioned similarly to the ocular skill his original identity had, the young man immediately knew that the idea he had was feasible, though he was still unsure as to how effective his newfound sight was in the whole process.

“[Vision of the First Blacksmith].”

Asking his other identity to keep his ocular skill active, Valyr went ahead and picked up the pauldrons, gazing at it through the vision his skill allowed him to see.

Taking note of the areas of slight discordance that appeared throughout the armor piece, he then glanced back at Ataraxia, who promptly shared what he saw with his own skill through their shared thoughts.

Whoosh!

Continuing to check what they saw between one another for quite some time, Valyr eventually put the pauldrons down as he gave Ataraxia a slight grin.

“How long can you keep that skill active?”

Hearing those words, Ataraxia slightly grinned in return.

“As long as you need it to.”

And with that, Valyr swiftly got back to work.

However, this time, his other identity was going to assist him from the side.

Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!

With the refinement of the upgrade materials already done, Valyr now began to combine the materials with the pauldrons he had already created, gradually modifying and upgrading it in the direction he wanted the entire armor set to achieve.

While doing so, he had all of the skills he used while forging activated, allowing him to be at his peak condition at all times.

At the same time, Ataraxia lent the vision [Sight of Arcane Origin] offered to Valyr through their shared thoughts, which allowed the latter to take note of problem areas that appeared harmonious through his own ocular skill.

Making sure to take the necessary breaks every once in a while, the young man gradually melded the materials into the pauldrons, slowly transforming the aura it gave off into something that had a bit of sharpness to it.

Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!

At some point in the process, Valyr subconsciously dispelled all of the translucent arms he had conjured, placing over 100% of his concentration on the pauldrons as he continued to meld the upgrade materials into it.

“[Breath of Beginnings].”

Taking in a deep breath as he took the pauldrons out of the furnace, he then activated the hammer’s signature skill before tapping it a few more times, making sure that everything was in harmony from both identities’ visions while doing so.

“…Alright.”

Wiping off the sweat running down his forehead, Valyr placed the pauldrons into the furnace once more as he took out the materials making up the final step of the upgrade process.

“For the last step, I need to replace the True Wyvern Scales on the pauldrons with Elder Wyvern Scales,” muttered Valyr to himself.

“While doing so, I also need to infuse my blood and energy into it, which would elevate the compatibility of the armor piece with me according to the guide.”

“As far as I remember, the sequence of events is the exact opposite of what I did for the True Wyvern Armor upgrade,” said the young man after that, causing a series of questions on the guide’s true goal to pop up in his mind.

In the end, he decided not to think about it any further. After all, the final outcome of following the guide would still benefit him either way.

Whoosh!

Taking out the pauldrons from the furnace, Valyr swiftly inlaid the Elder Wyvern Scales on top of the True Wyvern Scales, gradually replacing each scale as he kept both his and Ataraxia’s ocular skills constantly running.

Making a few adjustments to the scale pattern here and there, the young man eventually nodded in satisfaction as he proceeded to infuse both his blood and energy into the pauldrons.

Fwoosh!

Starting off with his blood, Valyr made a few cuts on his wrist and placed them directly on the pauldrons.

Feeling a searing pain from the cuts as the pauldrons were still considerably hot, the young man endured the painful sensation while inwardly commanding his body to stop itself from recovering.

“Huu…”

After getting the feeling that he had given more than enough blood to the pauldrons, Valyr swiftly healed himself from his self-inflicted injuries with a combination of healing skills and a couple health potions.

Then, letting the pauldrons get down from its temperature a bit more, he proceeded to infuse Prime Azure Energy into it, only for his eyes to slightly widen in surprise soon after.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Although he had only put an amount that would be enough to cast five of his stronger spells, the young man noticed that the pauldrons had devoured every last drop and converted it perfectly, making it seem like the armor piece was a deep abyss that wouldn’t be satiated.

Nevertheless, he continued pouring more of his energy into it, confident that all the effort and sacrifice both he and Ataraxia had put into upgrading it would yield into something greater.

Swoosh!

In the end, the pauldrons absorbed Valyr’s energy for over half a day straight, causing both of them to be at a loss for words at how absurd the upgrade process was.

However, once the pauldrons assimilated this absorbed energy and took on a shade of dark blue in response, the two instinctively knew then and there…

That the effort they spent was all worth it.

Ding!
