Normally, Arthur would never even think of doing such a thing, even when he was perhaps the most reckless person out there. But, running toward this monster as if he can take it on was basically a suicide attempt.

However, at that moment, the boy had lost all sense of danger and was completely swept by the moment. His mind wasn’t able to think rationally, and he lost all control over his emotions. His mana was completely swept out of his own body, raging like a stormy sea.

Arthur forgot about everything, even the fact that he needed to somehow lose control over his own mana. He forgot about it all.

‘Kill him!!!’ His rage screamed in his head, fueling him even more and flaring his mana wider and stronger. A split second later, Arthur found himself within a few inches of his enemy. Everything happened basically in the blink of an eye.

Whether it was luck or simply perfect timing, his mana suddenly clicked. The flood of mana he was expelling completely mixed with the mana outside.

[Ding!]

[You have acquired a new skill: Exo-Burst!]

The notification that appeared in Arthur’s mind was completely pushed to the side. The boy didn’t even realize that it appeared as his instincts immediately took control and activated the skill.

*Swish*

From the monster’s perspective, it didn’t even comprehend why the boy had just changed his mind and decided to attack it. But, it wasn’t dumb enough not to take that opportunity either, as it knew that its target was now basically giving his life away. All it had to do was simply take it.

However, when it was almost on the brink of reaching him, things shifted again. Arthur… disappeared. It happened almost instantly.

The monster’s arms swept through the thin air, hitting nothing in the process. When it landed on the ground, it was completely confused, with its multiple eyes looking left and right. It knew… It knew very well that what just happened was completely different from before.

The way he disappeared was way faster, and more abrupt, taking it by complete surprise. Searching for Arthur, the monster found nothing. He had just completely vanished.

All kinds of alarms went off in the monster’s head, and for the first time since it found this human, it felt threatened. Something about the boy had changed drastically, and it was clear that the battle wasn’t going to end as easily as it expected.

Standing there, it tried to keep itself alert, not daring to move for fear of ending up in an even bigger problem. However, it didn’t realize quickly enough that standing there without moving was also a huge disaster.

As it was searching for the human, the monster took one single step back instinctively. The moment it did that, something flashed near it, and all it could feel after that was immense pain that overwhelmed its senses.

“EEEEEEER!!!” Screeching loudly, it was launched into the air, piercing through several walls. It rolled on the ground, seeping blood out from several deep gashes.

Meanwhile, where it was before, Arthur landed on his feet. He was breathing heavily, steam rolling out of his mouth with each breath. He stared angrily at the monster before he spat out a mouthful of saliva mixed with blood.

‘He was able to hit me.’ He rubbed his chin. In the split second when Arthur appeared and kicked the monster, the creature was fast enough to sweep with its arm, hitting his jaw.

The exchange was so fast it basically happened instantly. However, Arthur didn’t feel disheartened; instead… he was over the moon.

‘I have gained it! I have finally got Exo-Burst!’ He smiled. ‘This is such a ridiculous skill! I was moving so fast when I activated it!’

The moment the skill was activated, Arthur felt as if his body had zipped through reality itself and appeared somewhere else. At the same time, he didn’t struggle to stop and change directions even with such ridiculous speed.

Looking around him, he could feel as if the world had slowed down for him, and he could finally take in everything in great detail.

Then, when he moved again, he noticed that the monster wasn’t looking at him, it wasn’t sensing his presence even though he didn’t go too far away.

‘What the hell… That was like an out-of-body experience.’ He looked at his hand. ‘So this is what it feels like to activate Exo-Burst. Such an interesting skill. I felt that speed in my bones.’

“EEEEEER!!!”

The boy heard the monster screeching in anger and it snapped him out of his daze. “Well, I guess someone is still looking for a dance.”

Looking through the pierced walls, Arthur could see the monster standing up before it vanished. A second later, the boy found himself a split second away from getting decapitated with a single hit.

However, this time, he was prepared. Activating Exo-Burst again, he vanished from sight immediately. He quickly spun around and kicked the monster in its blind spot.

“Hahaha! That was cool!” He laughed. “Come on, get up! Let me practice my new skill on you!”

The monster groaned before it slowly stood up and glared at Arthur.

“Aww, did I anger you? I’m sorry~” Arthur pretended to frown. “You can try to kill me, I’m here.”

The provocations were quite obvious but the monster didn’t seem to care as it was beyond outraged and it immediately charged Arthur.

‘Right, just like that.’ Arthur grinned before he vanished again. He wanted the monster to lose control and immediately attack him.

*BANG*

Like a ghost, he manifested next to the hideous monster and punched its guts, making it vomit blood from the several mouths it had. Then, he vanished again and appeared from a different angle, kicking the monster up in the air.

At the same time, Arthur pulled his sword out and slashed several times, sending spikes of ice toward the monster. The spikes couldn’t fully pierce its skin, but they were able to freeze several parts of the monster’s body, making it squirm in immense pain.

Landing on the ground like a messed up ragdoll, the monster struggled to stand up again. So, Arthur took that opportunity and rained attacks on it. Using Exo-Burst, he kept moving around it and attacking every single spot. He poked its eyes, cut off its limbs, and froze its body under thicker and thicker layers of ice.

Meanwhile, the monster struggled to do anything under the brutal assault. Each second was like a hellish torture, slowly losing all of its body parts one by one.

“Where is your anger, huh?! Where is all that speed you had before?! Tell me!” Arthur yelled, a hint of madness mixed within his voice. He was finding clear excitement in torturing this monster after what it did to him.

He was unable to forget the fear that struck his heart in those several minutes when it was dominating the battle. Now that he regained control, he didn’t want to kill it quickly, he wanted to make it experience that same fear it had given him.

That was his way of executing revenge and that was what he did. But, eventually, the creature succumbed to its injuries and stopped moving completely.
