Chapter 770: Reactions

(Meanwhile the global forums)

The reactions on the global forums to Leo becoming the Emperor were quite wild, despite most anticipating this day to come sooner or later.

“TheBoss is now the Emperor, does this mean he has unrestricted access to the royal treasury? I wonder what types of treasures are in there…. I guess this automatically makes ‘TheBoss’ the richest player, even richer than Leo Skyshard the number one merchant”

“TheBoss has reached the pinnacle of gaming. Imagine being the Emperor of a game millions of players play. He’s truly beyond exceptional”

“Nah…. Someone ban ‘TheBoss’ from the game. His success is honestly too demoralizing for the rest of us. I won’t even be surprised if he kills the Demon King next and annexes the whole continent…. That man is mad, he might just do it”

“Will ‘TheBoss’ actually work to restore stability in the region? Without the NPC of the kingdom issuing quests and with the supply routes for merchants overrun, the whole economy is in shambles. There’s no steady supply of goods and it’s hard to level up. I hope he addresses such problems and is not just focused on enjoying the game for himself”

“The uprising are the new rulers? Is it time to quit the game?”

“Man, I wish I could go back in time and become best friends with ‘TheBoss’. He has the biggest golden thighs of this game”

“Did anyone else notice the beauties squeezing their boobs for ‘TheBoss’ when he was on his way to the throne? The man did not even spare them a glance, but quite a few of them were tens”

“The dark age of gaming begins today…. The most vile man is not the Emperor”

“Terra Nova Online is a biased game, the gameplay does not allow players with more spiritual and intellectual tendencies to shine.

It’s all about who has the biggest fist–”

“The Boss is the new law of the land… and we have no clue, what he can and can’t do…. Can he imprison millions of players for dissent? Can he appoint nobles and give away land as he pleases? Nobody knows but him”

The players debated the future intensely.

Some were happy that ‘TheBoss’ became the new Emperor, others were curious as to what his newfound powers meant, while a select few were unhappy, and they vented by writing long rants on the forums to feel better for themselves.

(Meanwhile Jacob)

Jacob was quite proud of Leo for becoming the next Emperor, albeit within the game world.

As a father he derived the greatest joy from watching his children succeed in life and lately, Leo and Luke gave him no reasons to complain.

Leo had already reached the pinnacle of what one could within the game world, while Luke was following quickly behind.

In his recent fight against DarkEmperor, Luke had defeated the number 2 ranked player with ease, which made Jacob quite proud of his achievements.

Although he was a father who had minimal role in watching his children bloom into the flowers they became today, he still felt satisfaction knowing that they were poised for a better life than one he could have ever given them if he stayed at home.

“I’ll always continue watching over you both from the shadows…. Help in whatever small way I can–” He murmured, as now that Leo was Emperor, he made his new goal to eliminate any anti-emperor sentiments and rebel movements that would arise in the coming days.

(Meanwhile Luke and PinkLotus)

Luke and PinkLotus were both back in the abandoned forest, at their usual training spot near the waterfall when the system notification for Leo becoming Emperor flashed past their screens.

“About time…” Luke muttered looking at the notification, while PinkLotus only smiled faintly, as she paused her training for a while.

Both of them, just like millions of other players, already knew that this day was going to come sooner or later, however, unlike weebs who watched the whole livestream, they only became aware of the phenomenon once the global notification rang out.

“Your brother keeps shattering new records every month…. At this point I think over 80% of all global announcements have been triggered by him and him alone” PinkLotus said, as Luke gave her a proud smile.

“Well, I guess I raised him right” Luke replied, sticking his tongue out, as PinkLotus burst into a joyous laughter.

Their relationship had taken a slight turn on their way back from Bernebau city, as while on the road, the two awkwardly held hands at first before slowly growing comfortable to one another’s touch.

Both blushed hard after their first contact, which took Luke a lot of courage to make. However, once they did intertwine their fingers, neither pulled away, even as their palms grew sweaty and clammy from hours of contact.

It was on the third evening of their journey back to the training spot when it finally happened.

The sun was setting, casting golden hues over the dense forest path, and the air was warm with the faint hum of cicadas. PinkLotus had tripped over an exposed root in the path, and Luke instinctively caught her before she fell, their faces suddenly inches apart.

For a moment, neither moved, the world around them fading into nothingness. Luke’s heart hammered in his chest as he stared into her eyes which looked seductive and inviting.

PinkLotus’s breath hitched, her lips slightly parted as if caught mid-thought.

“I… uh—” Luke stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.

But PinkLotus smiled, her usual composed demeanor giving way to something more vulnerable. “You’re not going to make me do all the work, are you?” she teased, her voice soft and playful.

Luke’s cheeks burned, but he didn’t pull away this time. Summoning every ounce of courage, he leaned in, his lips brushing against hers in a kiss that was as awkward as it was sweet. It lasted only a moment, but it felt like an eternity—a perfect, fleeting eternity.

When they pulled apart, both of them were flushed, avoiding each other’s eyes for a few beats before PinkLotus broke into a giggle. “That… wasn’t so bad,” she said, her smile radiant.

Luke chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah… I guess I didn’t mess it up too badly.”

PinkLotus reached out, intertwining her fingers with his once more. “Not bad at all,” she replied, her voice warm and reassuring.

From that moment on, the journey back to the waterfall felt lighter, their stolen glances and shared laughter making every step memorable. Their first kiss, though unplanned, had left a mark neither would soon forget.

Now, although they had not made their relationship official, they were close to doing so, with both having admitted how they felt for one another.
